⏰ IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE We have written to the @H_S_E to raise serious concerns about the officer safety issues revealed by the disclosures we obtained from the @MetPoliceUK following a number of serious stabbings. We urge the HSE to: 1⃣ Conduct an independent investigation into the adequacy of the Met's health and safety arrangements for frontline unarmed officers. 2⃣ Examine whether the repeated failure to implement internal safety recommendations constitutes a breach of the employer's duty of care. 3⃣ Consider issuing enforcement action to ensure that officers are provided with adequate training, equipment and safe systems of work.

🚨 NEW: The Near-Miss Files We obtained redacted Met Police “near-miss” reports into knife attacks where officers were stabbed — and in one case, a 14-year-old boy was murdered. What they reveal is shocking. 👇

“Where we know Live Facial Recognition can help locate individuals that pose a safety risk to the many seeking to enjoy Carnival, it is entirely reasonable to ask - why wouldn't we use it?” Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley's response to criticism of LFR use at Notting Hill Carnival.

✅ "Using live facial recognition at events like #NottingHillCarnival is common sense" Our Founder, @RoryGeo, on reports that the @MetPoliceUK will be deploying live facial recognition cameras to Notting Hill Carnival - after last year's event saw eight people stabbed and two people tragically killed at the carnival. "It helps identify suspects wanted for serious crimes - people who should be in prison, not walking our streets or hiding in crowds." "The public rightly expects the police to use every lawful tool to keep us safe." We've also previously called for a review of the event's location and potential ticketing options to ensure public safety and quality of life for local residents.

We are disappointed to see you post this when you could have easily reached out to us directly to ask or raise any concerns prior to casting unfounded aspersions. We continue to be in contact with the forces covering London's armed response officers. Our Director's choice to leave X is a personal one due to a range of professional projects he is working on - and so is entirely unrelated to Operation Coffee Break. We remain on X at this account and our website remains live publicsafetyfoundation.uk, from which we will provide further updates on #OperationCoffeeBreak. The funds generously provided by supporters remain with us pending finalisation of discussions with the forces concerned.
