This prayer to Mary is from the third century. That means Christians were already praying to the Mother of God long before Protestantism existed. Either Christianity fell into idolatry almost immediately, or Protestantism is historically indefensible. It is telling that modern Protestants and Mormons share the same idea of a “Great Apostasy.” The premise is the same: the Church failed, Christ did not preserve it, and truth had to be restored later. That premise reveals the spirit behind both systems.
