Water levels have dropped drastically, with very little pressure in the pipelines. Even people in rural areas are now forced to buy water not just for drinking but for bathing as well. Data centres require huge amounts of water for cooling. This is potentially what could happen to water resources in surrounding areas. India needs to be mindful of this before we build more data centres.
