Few Things That i wanna elaborate and reflect on... New @upshot_cards Randomization Algo: Raw Data is showing us the best rarest and most sought after cards are distributed fairly & evenly (Which was the intent behind this update). BUT BUT BUTT what's most important to me here is the user experience/ sentiment also points towards something else which is very important for us to monitor and adjust towards... THERE's A HUGE adjustment which a lot of players have noticed immediately (And yeh, i'm reading comments, DMs and public discussions across the board). Also important to note... Most of the noise comes from extremely happy/unhappy individuals, the median sentiment is usually much more silent in the background. ✅ There's still some nice surprises in packs (Which is what we want) ✅Repeated Cards are definitely Less (TBH this will be an ongoing tug of war, we don't want to tamper too much with the randomization, but yet we know the number one complaint is repeated cards) ✅@iamsaikranthi warned me about all the tradeoffs with pushing this update... i still proceeded with pushing the update, as the drop rate for instant wins is a much needed adjustment, same goes with all cash cards. ⚠️Users aren't feeling great when they don't receive any bonus cash cards in packs... This has always happened, but now is happening in a more 'distributed' fashion meaning more people are experiencing it instead of isolated concentrated incidents. This is very critical for us to adjust to be less harsh. ⚠️We reduced repeated cards... And this goes both ways... Users Love++ receiving Repeated cards esp for rare cards, but not the other way around for common cards. ⚠️The challenge and tradeoffs here... If we hard enforce cards and drop rates, then we destroy randomization. We shouldn't tamper by pre determining packs ahead of time. ⚠️Have some iterations in mind and will be implementing for the immediate updates that we have in mind. 🦷One of the main reasons why we put our own money into packs/ prizes. We're still building this out and iterating rapidly... Also putting our own skin in the game alongside our customers. cc: @iamsaikranthi & @yeckin_ for visibility... I’ve been in the solana ecosystem long enough so I’ve seen some stuff Solana did well in part by being at the right place at the right time, launching when everyone was home during covid, being an inclusionary community with low fees when ETH had $300 txns and constant exclusionary MEV discourse Solana didn’t create any catalyst, NFT boom etc, but it won it by 1) measuring inputs constantly 2) being open minded to new things 3) not filling discourse with ideas that seem exclusionary 4) pushing the bar on new ideas (not chasing HL or whatever) Probably best to stick to those ideals
