At any point are we going to be willing to consider that someone who hasn’t coached this century may not have the most accurate view on current roster building? Or am I supposed to pretend that partial qualifiers and unlimited rosters still exist
duane puppe@PupDuane

@ralulla There were 110 NE kids on last NE National Championship team. Over 2/3 of roster. heard coach McBride month or so say on radio say we need NE kids “ We would just travel down 34, grab a kid, few yrs later All Americans” -McBride.

@RandySpeer_FT What we are doing now is getting us to.500 or less. It’s not the best players that win, it is the players that play together best that win.

@ralulla It is the athlete they wanted, mindset and culture kid, not State, but yes regional was important! Are you really questioning Brook Berringer?

@PupDuane So Kansas is cool too? I thought we were just doing in state. Also to suggest anything disparaging about Tommie’s work ethic or how much he cared about the program is insanity.

Nebraska has 31 in-state kids on a roster of 115. That’s 27% of the roster comes from a state with 0.6% of the country’s population. Say what you mean, you’re bothered that Nebraska didn’t recruit the kids that you coached. Which is fine, but don’t make this about something else.
Joe Glab@gocatz54

25+ D1 kids from Nebraska in 2026, 3 offered by the Huskers. Many not even talked to. I wonder where you find kids that love playing football at Nebraska. 🤔

@PupDuane @ralulla Do you have any evidence to support this? I would love to read about it, always looking for ways to rep Nebraska kids.

@PupDuane @ralulla He has a more accurate view than you do on roster building. Common sense is not that hard to come by.

@Genetics56 Why are we paying college athletes, not required to go to college, game was so much better before NIL and portal. Start minor league, will be like baseball, few attend, nobody cares!

@ralulla Matt Rhule’s comment on Tommy Frazier bugged me, yes Tommy was from Fla. We would not have won without regional QB from a small town 9man KS school that went 3-9 his sr yr. Brook Berringer or Matt Turman filling in. Brook pushed Tommy, arguably better QB. Regional work ethic

@PupDuane There was I believe 188 guys on that roster and 110/188 is 58.5% which is less than 2/3 but that’s ok. Just want to make sure I understand your argument, do you think that if Nebraska had 58.5% of their roster from in state they’d be competing for national championships in 2026?

@ralulla Trump may have just fixed this, coaches may have to develop players again?

#Huskers transfer DL Anthony Jones wasn't at the spring game today because he's a new dad! His child was born yesterday morning and Matt Rhule said he texted him at 8:30am: "a new pass rusher was born" @WOWT6News

I don’t think Casey Alexander blew anyone away with his press conference today and I think that’s perfectly okay. Strikes me as a guy who wants to do less talking and let his work do that for him. Hammering home player retention and building from recruiting is so incredibly refreshing. Even minimal high school recruiting will be better than what Jerome Tang did. He’ll have to prove it to win people over but if you don’t even give him a chance to do that, that’s a you problem.

What has happened to H.S. basketball? In the 4 IHSA state championship games, teams averaged only 47.6 ppg. My high school basketball team (Oswego 1975-76) averaged 82.3 ppg and scored over 100 5x. In 1971-72 Thornridge (33-0), featuring Quinn Buckner, averaged over 90 ppg.
