I wasn’t prepared for how hard it would be to wake up in a world without you Tally. But I will try and be as strong for you as you always were for me. I hope one day our souls meet again, but if they don’t, I hope your soul finds someone who needed you as much as I did. Love you.

@CoachAude @zthavy @HuskersX @WilsonDSports Yeah, I get what the clip is, but this was like a 20 minute segment of about discussion we’ve had all off season. I know not everyone can consume the whole context but I also understand what I’ve said as an overarching narrative vs the what the clip shows

@zthavy @ralulla @HuskersX @WilsonDSports I wouldn’t say below average, but I can get on board with they slipped. My main issue with the original with the clip was the statement saying we didn’t see special teams win games last season. That’s all

@WilsonDSports @CoachAude @HuskersX The sentiment that Mike Ekeler is the only functional special teams coach in the country is part of my issue here. They were hiring someone new and I’d argue almost anyone with a pulse would’ve cleaned up most of the stuff we saw. After that we are basically arguing over 3 plays

This is my favorite argument. Anyone who doesn’t share your view point is clearly either an apologist, or a homer or a hater. We have to stop doing this when we have conversations. Look at the interaction between @CoachAude and me. No name calling. Just different opinions
previous eagle@previous_eagle

@CoachAude @ralulla These guys are university apologists. Idk if they share any of their actual opinions or if they’re given talking points. I didn’t realize a school had media like that until I listened to them much of last season and it’s the only explanation for so much of what they say.

I mean this with all sincerity, @ralulla Did we watch the same football team last season? Special teams for sure won football games for Nebraska last fall.

@HuskersX @WilsonDSports @CoachAude I’m not saying there’s a large group that could jump 100 spots. I’m saying getting into the top 40-50 was achievable by almost any functional coach and after that we are arguing about a handful of big plays vs more consistent execution in other areas of special teams

@ralulla @WilsonDSports @CoachAude I think the list of coaches who could’ve taken a unit from 112th to 12th in 1 year is an incredibly small group. Putting him in the “functional” category is disingenuous.

@CoachAude @ScottShiff300 @HuskersX I appreciate that. I like having these conversations and I try to treat people with respect when I do. At the end of the day we both want what’s best for the program

@ralulla @ScottShiff300 @HuskersX For the record, I’m willing to admit that was wrong of me to throw in that last sentence. You are right, I don’t think personally you and I have had much interaction at all, and not any negative from what I can remember. Just an overall frustration, but that isnt fair to you

@ralulla @CoachAude @HuskersX Ekeler’s vision to add a third kicker (Cunanan) in the spring, drop McCallister and add Archie, develop Jacory & Kenneth as returners is far better than functional. Ek doesn’t settle. We have too many coaches who do. You don’t replace a Bugatti with a Honda Civic

@CoachAude @MutedLoudMouth Again, I am a making a distinction between a few plays that impacted winning, and consistent execution that can be counted on game in and game out and year in and year out. We obviously disagree there, and that’s fine, but that’s what I’m talking about

@ralulla @MutedLoudMouth To say “we wanted that to be a place where you could actually win some games, not just not lose them, and we didn’t really see that” is the part I have the issue is. I (and I believe many others) can list games that special teams had a huge role in winning.

@CoachAude @ScottShiff300 @HuskersX I’m happy to have a discussion about how we view things through different lenses but I’m not interested in the complaining about people not listening to you. “I’m sure we are wrong somehow?” Have I ever interacted with you negatively? Don’t put your issues with other people on me

@ralulla @CoachAude Sipple has reported Ekeler wanted a more hands on role in the bowl game. He looked at the AWFUL defense and offered to help. Does that sound like a guy that wants to leave or does that sound like a guy who wants to help more? Not like he’s coaching LBs at USC or anything…

@CoachAude @MutedLoudMouth I think they had flashes of brilliance that helped win the games in which they occurred. They also had lapses they cost them (specifically short punts that led to short fields). I’d prefer a consistent special teams unit over boom or bust. That’s what I mean by being counted on

@ralulla @MutedLoudMouth I guess where we entirely disagree is when you say they couldn’t be counted on to win games. I can instantly think of THREE conference games where special teams were a very direct impact on winning the game.

@MutedLoudMouth @matt_schmidt11 1, you seemed to be talking about last year but if I misunderstood you, that’s fine. 2, where did Nebraska rank before 2025 when everyone was also freaking out about the running backs? 3, I think you have to look at the running game holistically with qb run game

@matt_schmidt11 @ralulla Yeah…not a concern at all. We play in the best league in America that consistently need to run the ball when the weather gets cold.

You mean the running back room last year that produced a 1400 yard rusher/all-american? I’m not denying there were impactful special teams plays throughout the year. But there were also places where I believe lack of consistent execution cost them over the course of the season
Josh@MutedLoudMouth

@CoachAude @ralulla I’m not in media so I don’t pretend to know how to generate content, but the gaslighting coming from the media with Mike Ekeler leaving, the running back room questions and stuff last year has been wild to watch. Truly off putting.

@matt_schmidt11 I think people are underestimating how good Geep Wade is at his job and how much easier that will make the running backs lives

@ralulla I just don’t get the concerns with the RB room. I was fine with the way it was and now with the edition of Hayes and an improved OL we should have a solid running game if not excellent running game!

@CoachAude @MutedLoudMouth Furthermore, I’d rather have a guy that actually wants to be here and work with the staff than a guy that doesn’t. Ekeler had an offer to make him one of the highest paid special teams coordinators in the country. He turned it down. If you don’t want to be here, cool, you can go

@CoachAude @MutedLoudMouth The discussion wasn’t about good vs bad, it was about perception vs reality. Were special teams much improved? Absolutely. I don’t think they performed consistently enough to be counted on to help win games. Much like the offense and defense tbh.

@ralulla Wawrinka’s one-handed backhand down the line is lethal. I swear it looks faster & more powerful than his forehand.
