South Africa's land reform is based on market principles. It supports growing investment in our agricultural sector, enabling it to play a meaningful role in resolving our triple challenge of low growth, poverty, and unemployment. wandilesihlobo.com/2025/09/03/zim…

Q: Whose well-thought out, open-minded, reasonable and necessarily complex (for our problems are complicated) contribution to the national dialogue are you most looking forward too?

Beef emits 31 times more CO₂ per calorie of food than tofu does. By cooking so many cows, humans are cooking themselves, too. Forgoing steaks may be one of the most efficient ways to reduce our carbon footprint econ.st/3Kz0tWF 👇

@chrisyelland Thanks Chris, great perspective! Methinks cost of electricity factor (Eskom) will continue to drive embedded generation (RE behind the meter) significantly. Your perspective?

These graphs indicate the very significant reduction in the burden on Eskom electricity generation (both energy and demand) for the first 20 weeks of 2024 (red line), compared to the same period in 2023 (blue line).

@AntonEberhard @BischofNiemz So why the heavy gas focus? Ideological dogma, corruption ease, party and personal interests, political control, gas 'availability', etc.???

South Africa’s new IRP2023 plan forced in a whole lot of gas. Here’s a more cost optmized plan from ⁦@BischofNiemz⁩ keeping the installed gas power capacity but adding in 16GW cheaper solar PV and 12GW cheaper wind to replace some of those expensive gas molecules. Way to go

The beautiful Eastern Free State. Apart from collapsing towns, unpassable roads and stripped railway stations and infrastructure, a wonderful place.

@GraceBaskaran This is not limited to the mining sector. Agriculture/Agribusiness in similar mode. Only real capex is to ensure energy security through renewables and product route to market through alternative logistics options. Expect further GDP contractions as cost of doing business soars.
