Snakes conserve their energy and won’t waste it trying to kill what they can’t eat.

@GeeBeeNZ @RussBrownTX @Rainmaker1973 Depends if it is a defensive or holding bite. Defensive bite is a quick, open-mouthed strike and immediate retreat, which is how the python struck at the mop. I’ve copped both types of bites, and the worst part of holding bite is that they wrap and constrict.

@RussBrownTX @Rainmaker1973 A Carpet Python, a li'l one, maybe two years old... Adult ones grow to 4 meters and would easily constrict any pets in the house... up to the size of the li'l girl.
Though not venomous, their bite is NASTY as all teeth (lots) point backwards, so release is usually a bloody mess!
