My brother bought two plots of land from a friend and colleague at work in 2024 for ₦1.8m. He paid ₦1.5m at that time. Not long after, he was sacked because of a misunderstanding between him and the manager. Fast forward to last year, there has been development in that area, and people are now selling land there for much higher amounts. My brother still owes his friend ₦300k from 2024. Now his friend is telling him to sell the land because the area is booming and this is right time to cash out and he would use the Money to buy another land elsewhere that’s still underdeveloped. He said he already has a buyer who is ready to pay ₦6m immediately. But my brother said no,he is not selling for now because he plans to build a house on the land. At first, my brother thought it was because of the remaining ₦300k, so he borrowed money to pay him. However, his friend refused to collect it and said it’s not about the ₦300k , he just wants my brother to sell the land so he could gain more. He keeps pestering him to sell and still refuses to collect the remaining balance. It looks confusing. I don’t know if it’s hate or jealousy, or maybe he has found someone willing to pay more than ₦6m and wants to lure my brother into selling so he can pocket the extra money.
