This didn’t just change my brain chemistry it changed my life As a young black girl this was the very first black princess I saw in a live action film ✨ To see we could not only be princesses but be loved and adored was everything 🤎 👑💎✨💕

@justanoutlawfic As a woman I think she made the right choice... as a monarch she was completely selfish.

The most chic number of children is as follows: four, one, three, seven then five. The least chic is two, but it's slightly better if they're both girls. More than seven is irredeemably unchic.
𝒩𝒶𝓉𝒶𝓁𝒾𝒶@classicspilled

Having four children is very chic. Higher end of normal. Not trad sourdough territory. Big enough so kids can pick btwn siblings, not so big they get lost in the crowd. Can easily imagine a highly educated woman starting in her late 20s or 30s having four children.

bailey captured the giddy, childlike yet erratic nature of teenaged claudia brilliantly. delainey absolutely nailed a haggard, exhausted 40-something woman trapped inside a child's body. funnily enough, they both fit their respective season's narrative arcs perfectly
jai ♡@JAlJENSEN

we can examine people’s favoritism with claudia’s actresses especially re: colorism but i feel like sometimes there’s a level of overcorrection where in trying to validate delainey’s claudia you then minimize bailey as if she doesn’t count at all

modern musical movies are bad because the filmmakers are embarrassed to be making musicals. musical movies are some of the greatest films of all time but they must be made with a respect for both the mediums of film and musical theater

musicals are one of the worst film genres

@justanoutlawfic And there was at least one parent on the road trip. My grandparents were not traveling with all of us alone.

@justanoutlawfic Actually, I forgot, my grandpa would usually arrange for us to do one road trip while we there. Grand Canyon or Cali to see his brother. But that was like a 48 hour turnaround and it was not luxurious.

I also think I’m on the side of “grandparents don’t owe you babysitting”, because my grandparents rarely babysat. And in my mom’s family, they were the odd ones out because every other older person did, they didn’t want to. And that was fine. They didn’t have to.

@justanoutlawfic Especially if your parent has multiple grandkids. Like that other mom posted. She has several sisters, 13 grandkids between them.... are we really expecting her senior age mom to care for them all full time?

@justanoutlawfic I also think there's a difference between babysitting and half-raising. If you want your parent to watch your kid for a few hours, once a month, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask. But you expecting like 20+ hours of childcare and help a week.... that's entitled.

BRB. About to tell my mother that the three of us girls are getting jobs and she will need to keep all 13 of her grandkids full time. I’m sure she won’t mind.
Nina@NinaPanickssery

Genuinely curious—why don’t more people use their own parents/kid’s grandparents for childcare as opposed to daycare/preschool/nannies (which seem more common)? Is it common for boomer grandparents to show disinterest in their grandchildren?

@justanoutlawfic I do miss the period where YT wasn't just people seeking to become influencers and get brand deals. It was just people being weird and creative and free.

@dariacott Not to mention supporting each other when times get rough. How can you take over food when a friend is grieving when you can't afford to feed yourself and your kids on a normal day?

Affordability and community actually go together. No one can afford a space big enough to host guests and don't have money left over after bills each month. So, when and how are you building friendships, dating, etc., without being able to do either? You’re being priced out.
