UK politics without party loyalty. Politically homeless. Outcome-focused. Quiet observations, occasional sarcasm.

A note on this account. I’m not aligned with any political party, politician or movement. I’m politically homeless at the moment and judge things by outcomes, not colours. I’ll criticise whoever deserves it, using the same standards regardless of who’s in power. I sometimes use humour or sarcasm to point out how absurd things can be. If I get something wrong, I’ll correct it openly. For transparency, some of my instincts currently lean towards Reform-style criticism of the system, and I respect the independence shown by figures like Rupert Lowe. That isn’t loyalty or endorsement, and it doesn’t mean immunity from criticism. This isn’t a rallying point or a call to action. It’s just an attempt to describe what’s happening as clearly and honestly as I can. Disagreement is welcome. Bad faith isn’t.

@JacquiDeevoy1 I am so sorry. My mum passed away just last month and I am currently fighting the hospital for answers. From a senior HCA accidentally turning off her oxygen to a refused surgical review, the lack of safety is haunting. Sending you strength on this difficult day.

Today, on this bright and sunny Mothers Day, I’ll mostly be thinking about my mum, who was drugged to death (without her or my consent) in a hospice almost 17 years ago. I miss her more each day. Time isn’t a healer: the more it passes, the longer I am without her.

I guess I’m officially my coworker’s free Uber now and I don’t know how to end it without looking like the asshole He found out we live in the same neighborhood and one day asked me for a ride because his car was “broken.” I thought cool, a couple days, no problem. It’s been almost a month. Every morning I have to stop at his house like I’m clocking in for my second job. He doesn’t offer gas money, doesn’t even grab me a coffee. Nothing. Then another coworker told me he actually overheard this guy saying he SOLD his car and isn’t buying another one because it’s a waste of money. So basically I’m his long term plan. The audacity though… one morning I overslept and was 20 minutes late and he actually gave me shit for it. Like bro, you’re getting free rides every single day and you’re mad I wasn’t on time for your schedule?

@matinfue After a month of declining care, my 63 year old mother passed away last night. We witnessed serious negligence, including a staff member turning off her oxygen by mistake. This pattern of failures led to her passing, leaving our family heartbroken.

My 79yo mother was admitted to hospital yesterday with a serious UTI as a consequence of chemotherapy. The ER doctor - not her oncologist - asked her on admission if she "even has the will to live anymore". Am I overreacting in finding this outrageous?

You do realise that a lower inflation rate still means prices are rising, just slightly slower? For local businesses and families, the cost of living crisis is still very much real. We need to see action on energy costs and support for the high street, not just celebrations of a technical target.

It’s coming down! That’s down to @RachelReevesMP. Why isn’t @christopherhope acknowledging that? 2% is the BoE, CPI inflation target set by HMG and monitored by MCP. We will get there under the excellent stewardship of our outstanding @UKLabour Chancellor. Give credit, where due.

'The budget measures I took in November will come into effect in the next couple of months...' Chancellor Rachel Reeves reacts as UK inflation drops to 3%, its lowest figure since March last year, assuring Britons there is more good news to come.

@PeterStefanovi2 A 48-hour takedown window is a sticking plaster. If the government truly cared about the safety of women and girls, they’d focus on ending suspended sentences for predators and finally tackling grooming gangs. Until then, this is just tech-regulation smoke and mirrors.

@RachelReevesMP @Bruegel_org Results matter more than rhetoric. You won by promising to lower the cost of living, yet the economy is stalling and prices are still rising. You’ve failed to deliver on your core mandate. It’s time for you to go.

The future of our economy, security, resilience and defence is bound with Europe. Closer alignment isn't about choosing sides - it's about geography. Good to speak to @Bruegel_org about investing in our collective security and driving growth.

The PM won a five year mandate from the British people just 18 months ago. Labour governments don't come along often. It is a privilege to serve in one and we must not waste a second. The PM has my full support. Let's get on with changing the country for the better.

The sad part is that future is also pretty much European-free. They’re laughing over wine while their birth rates collapse, their energy costs skyrocket, and their culture is hollowed out. Hard to plan an 'America-free' future when you’re heading for a demographic and economic dead end.

Hey guys. You think Canada hates Trump? You should visit Europe. They drink really good wine and laugh at him while they eat delicious food but also they're planning an entire future that's America-free.

I’m not saying the guy’s a saint, but he’s one of the few people with a massive platform actually calling out the two-tier policing we've seen in the UK recently. He’s also spot on about free speech - the moment we let bureaucrats decide what's 'true' or 'allowed,' we’ve lost our democracy. Plus, his take on meritocracy over identity politics is just basic common sense if you want a society that actually functions.

Stability requires trust, and you don’t get that by going against a campaign mandate. If Starmer moves toward the EU against the public's vote, he’s not building 'closer ties' - he’s building a house of cards. Any deal made without a clear mandate will just be torn up by the next government. How is that 'doing a great job'?

If Keir Starmer resigns, the UK can forget closer ties to the EU anytime soon. He's slowly aligning Britain to the EU, and away from the US, it's a process that needs stability. Changing PM's would put that in jeopardy. He's doing a great job with the situation he is in.

This has made my day. It would seem that not only does a whopping 92% of @GBNEWS viewers think that Starmer will survive the Mandelson scandal, but I rather think it also reflects a growing admiration for our Prime Minister. Marvellous.

@ToryWipeout That “sacking” was pure optics once it became impossible to ignore. The idea that Starmer only found out after the story broke is pretty hard to swallow.
