unironically the number one skill that made it possible for me to cook at home regularly was accepting the fact that some of the food I buy will always go bad and throwing it out before my fridge turns into some crazy biohazard because I was too drowning in shame to deal with it

@rayengroves I learned it all almost from scratch in my 30s and cooking was always the easiest part, it was pantry and fridge management that was driving me nuts. I wasted so much food by not using it up on time, and the shame around it was so strong it made me give up several times

On the cost, "the bottom 50% pay 3% of federal income tax" doesn't mean it costs 3% of revenue, because the standard deduction reduces taxes for everyone else. Booker's proposal gives the largest tax breaks to people making six figures and blows a $5 Trillion hole in the budget.

The math here doesn't add up.
$75k is not in the bottom half of the individual income distribution, it's ~65th percentile.
They do not pay $12k in federal income tax, more like $7,900.
He acts like it would only cost 3% of income tax revenues, but it would actually cost *16%*
