Some of my followers consistently clutch at their pearls whenever this dark fantasy and horror writer/editor/reviewer/reader/watcher dares to talk about dark fantasy and horror.
Have I somehow misrepresented what I do? Have they somehow got lost while trying to find ‘rainbows and unicorns’ Twitter?
Anyways, I won’t apologise for my content. Expect much more.

@PaulPitt1967 I've found that there are many lovely people here. It just takes patience and kindness.
English

@RAMoulds @musicandroots It’s true that the muse takes leave now and then.
English

@ThomasBramel @musicandroots I've largely stopped producing music altogether. That may change in the future, but we'll see.
English

@musicandroots @RAMoulds It could be a function of my age, but active discourse about music no longer interests me. Energy is better spent birthing what begins as a tiny glimpse of inspiration. The labor is intense and requires deep focus and focus upon the deep. X isn’t much help.
English

@CarlBovisNature We often see mallards on the lawn of the hall, or flying over the river, but no ducklings as yet.
English

@musicandroots @ThomasBramel Well, for my part, I confess that I haven't had much musical or literary news to report. It may be my age, or the inevitable reduction of creativity to a slow trickle. I won't be so unkind as to blame it on a scarcity of such things in Cork. 😁😉
English

@ThomasBramel @RAMoulds That fair. I just remember a lot more vibrancy. Many of these folks jumped to Bluesky. But even after that things were more robust here for a while.

@jall69 @buitengebieden Archie is too busy producing his own line of aromatherapy to worry about flowers.

The pre-emptive backlash against Christopher Nolan’s Odysseus isn’t because they’re dicks
It actually shows audiences are brilliant
It shows people love entertainment and they truly want IMMERSION
They genuinely want to lose themselves in a story
But you can’t do that when there are such palpable obvious dickish moves that deviate from authenticity so aggressively - especially when people know they’re having an agenda pushed on them that has nothing to do with the actual story
Again it destroys immersion in the tale
And of course people can reinterpret historical source material and give a twist to things - but the kind of woke twist we’re seeing isn’t novel, it isn’t subversive, it isn’t fresh, interesting or thought provoking - it’s just absolutely hack, tedious, passé, boring and utterly yawn inducing
Just give people something real - as real as possible - so they can lose themselves
Stop pulling people out of a story and trying to make them aware that you’re superior to them because of your dull cultural and political onanism

Bumble is moving towards AI use in its matchmaking, but I think it will fail because many women find some excitement in rejecting men.
Classical music is full of this mentality. Thousands of musicians who wanted to be the next Mozart, only to find out that 99.9% us will not be. They’re very pissed off and resentful, so they find joy in tearing others down. In fact, some people only feel they can elevate their feelings of themselves by tearing down others. Classical music might have the highest rate of colleagues who will tell you to quit for your own good out of concern for your well being with a maniacal sneer on their face.

@stephenRB4 How have we become such a milque-toast, pearl-clutching community? I am constantly surprised by all the tutting and finger pointing we encounter here. Does participation in social media rob EVERYONE of maturity? You do what you love, Mr Black, and pay...
