A survey of 750 doctors by lobby group Doctors Association UK (DAUK) revealed “hundreds” of doctors could not access tests. Three quarters who needed tests were not able to get them, which DAUK president @sbattrawden called a “disgrace.” 👇 bmj.com/content/370/bm…

NHS England has apologised that only 23% of health trusts in England have risk-assessed their BAME staff. Dr Parmar, DAUK chair described the figures as "either dangerous apathy or callous disregard for the safety of BAME NHS workers." #bamereport news.sky.com/story/coronavi…

We have been calling for ruthless, frequent and universal testing of NHS staff for some months now to allow the NHS to return to elective surgery. It is sad to see that the government rejects this.
Dr Rosena@DrRosena

Yesterday, @Keir_Starmer @JonAshworth @leicesterliz and I, brought a motion to Parliament calling on the Government to introduce weekly testing of NHS and care staff. 331 Conservative MPs voted against it, even though they spent many Thursdays clapping for carers.

Unimaginable pain. Avoidable death. Government failures played out in hospitals, care homes and in communities across the country.

The @RCSEd has concerns over the rush to hand over billions to private providers to carry out surgical operations in light of Covid-19; around quality of care, training and over-stretching an already thin workforce. You can read our statement here: rcsed.ac.uk/news-public-af…

We are also concerned that the infection rates are not calculated separately for infections in hospitals and care homes and the implications this has for a return to elective surgery.
