Excited to launch The Dallas Office at SMU, a bold new initiative designed to strengthen collaboration with Dallas-based corporations, civic organizations and community partners while expanding access to the University’s talent, research and expertise. The Dallas Office will serve as our front door to the city and region and will expand opportunities for our students, faculty and partners. I’m thrilled to share that Kit Sawers has been named CEO of the office and a vice president of the University and will lead this work forward. She will start on August 3, and I couldn’t be more excited for her to hit the ground running in this defining moment for Dallas and SMU! bit.ly/4sZoMB2

Academic excellence paired with forward-thinking preparation for meaningful impact, that’s SMU! As even more evidence, 82 SMU students in the @SMUDedman Department of World Languages and Literatures earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy, an internationally recognized credential that validates proficiency in two or more languages. The Global Seal is recognized across more than 30 countries and five continents, equipping our graduates with globally competitive skills. Congratulations to our students on this remarkable achievement!

For 60 years, during Women’s History Month, the Women’s Symposium has created space at SMU for bold ideas, and conversations in support of principled leadership and meaningful progress. This year was no exception. As our academic momentum increases and opportunities expand, ensuring women have full access to leadership pathways remains essential work. We commit to prioritizing conversations about preparation, mentorship, confidence and opportunity. SMU engineers Kathleen Smits and Venkata Rao Gundapuneni study why natural gas leaks are harder to detect in cities.
