There's a guy I sometimes watch on YouTube, Gary Eats who's been to Gordon Ramsay's restaurants and pointed out how poor the quality was. The fact he's doing the same thing with these frozen meals too is shocking for a man who built a massive chunk of his career on bettering struggling restaurants

@saskatchewan_in This literally just happened to us about 3 months ago. Price is about the same we paid. Insurance paid 0 so don't beat yourself up on that. Go see your local Credit Union get a Heloc using the home for security. Ask for interest only payments to keep the payments low.

Hey Saskies, I need some urgent advice. I've already been ignoring this issue for 5 days because my soul can't take any more life hits at this time, and I can not afford the luxury of procrastination and willful blindness any longer. Yet another completely unexpected life hurdle. Last week water started backing up into my basement so I had no choice but to call a company to power-auger the main sewer line from my house to the street. That alone cost $545. He told me he charges $250/hour but cut me a deal that if I hire him to complete the job he will deduct the $545 from the bill to replace the line. He wrote he was here for 4 hours on the estimate but I clocked him here at 2.5 hours because I had to work around my bus schedule, so I'm questioning his honesty and integrity. Turns out the problem is much bigger. They say the old clay sewer pipe is disintegrating and collapsing at the joints, and the whole line needs to be replaced as soon as possible. Even after the auger it can barely handle normal use. Doing laundry right now feels like rolling the dice. I have mould starting along one wall. The sewage backup already destroyed a lot of paperwork like my marriage certificate and proof I own the house, along with two boxes of my most prized sentimental items that belonged to my husband. That's a whole other soul crushing situation I cant bear to think about or handle right now, and is likely responsible for my pissy mood this week. 😒 This is exactly the kind of thing my husband would have handled. He passed away six months ago and he would have put in the sweat equity to keep the costs down. Now I’m trying to figure it out alone, and I just dont wan't The estimate I was given to replace the line is $11,230. As a school bus driver making less than $28k a year, that’s not just a repair bill. That’s close to half of my take-home income disappearing overnight. I honestly don’t know if that price is normal or if I’m getting hosed. It’s not like there are dozens of companies nearby to compare. So I’m asking Saskies: • Is that price typical for replacing a main sewer line? • Are there things a homeowner can do ahead of time to reduce the cost? • Has anyone here dealt with this before? I’ll figure it out somehow. I always do. But if anyone has advice, experience, or knows someone trustworthy who does this kind of work, I’d be grateful to hear it. #ImDoneWithThisShit
