@ElmParkRoyals Isn't a rather important part of any plan to progress in the league the manager? If we recruit new players in the summer for his style of play and he goes we're stuck with them. If we sign players who don't fit his style then why keep him on as manager in the first place?

Leam Richardson won’t be leaving the club anytime soon. We need to get through the next 3 matches and recruit well in the summer. If we’re smart (I’m sure we will be) any new signings will be joining us will fit our plans regardless of the manager over the next few years.

@ALBIONFANTV The notable difference is the organisations in question. EFL far more proactive on FFP issues, and have been for years. As seen with deductions in the past decade for Birmingham, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday. It's the Premier League who are scared of impacting their big clubs.

Chelsea announce £300M losses . Man City still facing 115 charges. But somehow… nothing happens. West Brom? One alleged breach… EFL: “Points deduction incoming.” Game feels different depending on who you are 👀 #WBA

@Reading106 Yeah but in complete fairness they weren't playing Leam Richardson's Reading FC in those fixtures.

@Dubstep1988 That's a fair position to hold, I just believe that any average coach could have come in after Hunt and got a similar output from this squad. Plenty of them were here a year ago when we finished in the top half, and with Marriott and Wing it was a very viable achievement.

@RJMobsby And I disagree back. If someone completes a turnaround like that in any other business than football, they are lauded as a legend. He did it with a bang average and physically awful squad and one that he didn’t build. He gets to do it with players he chooses.

Easy to sum up this season. We spent the first few months looking like we might get relegated, the last few looking like we might make the playoffs. Leam Richardson’s results earn him a full pre-season, the style of play reduces his margin for error. #readingfc

@notrating1 Shockingly enough, casual fans like to watch their team win, and anything else entertainment wise is a bonus. We've not consistently won throughout a season for over a decade now, the casual support has gone, and I can't see attendances or results changing next season either.

@SimFromBucks If you were to attempt to make the positive case, what would your argument be Sim, beyond the fact we've gone from 20th to 8th under his tenure. Beyond that I'm really struggling to find any other argument in his favour.

i really hate the idea of having to get rid of another manager and go through more upheaval, and I'm confident a good summer will help a lot... ...but I really wish it were easier to make a positive case for Leam Richardson being the guy to take us forward long term

@HollowayRw @TheTilehurstEnd @AJKendrick Richard, there is no way the chap with 21 goal contributions is the main issue with Reading. And if you think its because he's playing deep thats on the manager and his tactical set up, not on arguably the best midfield goal contributor in the league.

@TheTilehurstEnd @AJKendrick I am sorry but the main issue with Reading is actually Lewis Wing. As playmaker he plays far too deep and is too easy to read and play against. A real dilemma for any manager.

Yes, we were playing an excellent side, but in game of so much importance to us too, one shot on target (a very late, scored free-kick) just isn't good enough at all And then to throw a valuable point away with ANOTHER late conceded goal... Deary me

@CScott____ @AJKendrick @RCouhig @catania_rick15 Not just down to the manager though Chris. So many below average players at the club. Forward players who cannot create, defensive players who cannot stay focused in injury time. Take out Wing and Marriott and it's a below average team with a below average manager.

Zero shots on target after 80 minutes. Given we are "pushing for the play offs" that's an abhorrent lack of intent, which ever way you slice it. Disgusting. #readingfc

@SeanMobsby Goes beyond just LR. Take out Wing and Marriott and you have a very mediocre squad matched by a mediocre managerial set up, and mediocre ambition from the top.

@CScott____ @MorganEcfc1 You do wonder, at what point the lad will realise he has lost opportunities due to his step dad's behaviour. Regardless of ability, the higher you go in the leagues, the less this public family drama will be tolerated, and Jayden will lose out because of it.

@CScott____ Similar stats to the second half against Stevenage and a few others to boot. For the life of me I cannot work out why, when stats show we tend to have fairly positive first halves, and I don't think tactically there's a great degree of change.

I’m sorry, but I cannot disagree more. In the second half, we made zero attempt to create chances or score. We were aimless and clueless with the ball, like we have been in so many second periods of games. Our fans are so used to turgid performances, it’s now OK? 🤯 #ReadingFC

"One lapse was our downfall today, rather than a prolonged period of negativity and defensive-mindedness that we’ve seen so often." @harry_chafer unpacks a #ReadingFC draw that looks familiar, but for him has a bit more nuance to it. thetilehurstend.sbnation.com/2025-26-match-…

@TheTilehurstEnd How many times has this happened now though? Get into the last 5+ injury time and cannot hold onto a lead. Yet we also seem to struggle to score a second. Can't understand how players switch off like that, it's just not good enough to be honest.

Seconds away from what would have been a huge win on the road... one moment and we're punished All too familiar unfortunately. If we don't make the top six, we may well look back at that moment SO frustrating because #ReadingFC had worked so hard for a result til that point

@ElmParkRoyals Stevenage have Wigan, Rotherham, Blackpool and Doncaster to play, with two games in hand. You'd be hard pushed to get better results than them given the run-ins.

6 games to go, Reading are on 61 points. Games at home vs Lincoln, Cardiff and Blackpool. Away to Huddersfield, Doncaster & Rotherham. How many points needed for top 6, how many will we get? I’m saying we need 13/18 to sneak it perhaps even on GD, & we’ll get 13 exactly.

@Wimby Will be interesting to see, not sure the fans have the patience for him personally. I'm sure he'd argue with better players and a pre-season we'd not slump as much in second halves. But we just don't come across as a front foot, attacking team under him.

@RJMobsby Hard when this summer was so slow and there’s clearly been some unexpected financial skeletons to deal with for the ownership. I think Leam’s got a good idea of what we need though.

It’s not over until it’s over but that felt like a real dagger today. Has all the vibes of 03/04 and 04/05 where we just didn’t have the gas left in the tank to make top six. Can take nothing away from the progress made, happy with the direction of travel overall.

@Reading106 I can't for the life of me understand why we are so so so bad from the moment the second half of games kicks off. Week in and week out, barring last minute out of nowhere goals, we are miles off. And whether it's Richardson or the players we are very poor.

Just imagine a whole season of this when Leam Richardson has had a chance to get as many anti-football players as possible. No thank you. Thanks for the points, but Fuck off Leam. I'd rather have the ups and downs as opposed to the continued shite football you dish up. #Readingfc

@Reading106 Now to be fair, if I was an all powerful dictator - I mean democratically elected official - I'd vote for someone else just to show that you can do so without issue. After all, if the dictator - I mean democratically elected official - can vote for someone else, why can't you?

@leights_1871 @ElmParkRoyals See, I'd argue they could be just as difficult. If they're fighting for their lives, they might perform better on the day than teams already promoted or with nothing to play for. We ourselves did it plenty of times back in the Championship.

With 11 games left of the season we’re in the chase for the playoffs and hitting form at exactly the right time. Could be a very exciting month. Do you think we’ll finish in the top 6?
