@cheerpoasting but then people might think it’s ROO-vee 😭 I don’t think there’s an optimal romanization. I guess you could go with something like Ruvvy but (a) that looks ugly and (b) double consonants are distinguished from single ones in most indic languages so there’s still ambiguity there

I agree we should try to pronounce names faithfully but it doesn’t surprise me that anglos don’t know how to interpret indic romanizations
like we aren’t even consistent — <a> is short in Ravi, but long in Raghav, Ram, and Raj!

I continue to find it amazing that The Electric Cinema in Birmingham is being left to disrepair. It is a part of Birmingham's history. Isn't it the oldest cinema in the country or very nearly? It would be such a huge loss if developers got their way and knocked it down.

Not all welfare claimants get "the lot".
Many don't get help with rent, council tax, or "free cars". In fact, some only qualify for the PIP mobility rate, just £1,518.40 a year. That’s the reality for people who don't fit the extra criteria. Most I know get £1.5k to £11k.

I can't get over Black Snape not because I'm racist, but because it's dumb. Race swapping Hermione is fine, she's never fully described as pale. But it's like race swapping the Weasleys. Snape is supposed to be pale, the Weasleys are supposed to be ginger.

This is a genuinely interesting story. Huge amount of automated work, potentially saving hundreds of thousands of human hours. BUT: with an error rate of 10%, and with the precise reading of *every* word mattering in such an exercise, it is meaningless, and for manuscripts of authority worse than useless, without a human checking every single word.
BUT: there simply aren't people, in 2026, with the expertise, the time, and the funding to check these 32,000 manuscripts at this level.
