At Obvi, we are intentionally letting our front-end AOV take a hit. 📉 Most DTC founders obsess over Day 1 profit. But looking at the rising ad costs of 2025, the one-and-done transaction model is a silent killer for growth. That’s why in 2026, we’re making every first order subscription-first. We’re willing to break even upfront to own the customer relationship and drive LTV. The problem is that lowering AOV to secure a subscriber creates a massive revenue gap, and you need to recover that margin immediately. The solution we found? Leaning on @aftersell and using the post-purchase flow to cross-sell aggressively. Here is the playbook: 1️⃣ Context is king. If a user lands on a "hair health" page, Aftersell ensures the upsell matches that intent. 2️⃣ AI targeting by predicting exactly which offer will convert for that specific user. 3️⃣ The math is that the upsells subsidize the subscription discount.
