I'd be much obliged if you gave my band's new album a few streams. We're pretty good at what we do.

@CartoonsHateHer Men are visual, women in the main are not. Women’s porn preferences definitely reveal something about their mate preferences, just not visually.

It’s starting to look like this hunch was correct and that the IRGC, in a desperate attempt to set the region on fire and rally jihadists behind them, is trying to blow up the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount. This cluster munition flew directly over Al-Aqsa and landed just 200 meters away. This shell would have destroyed the domes. This seems to be their plan. It is the only possibile reason they are repeatedly targeting the Old City of Jerusalem. There are no military targets there, and most of the population is Muslim.
Saul Sadka@Saul_Sadka

This map of Jerusalem shows a black rectangle marking the Temple Mount, the site of the Dome of the Rock. The red dots indicate the approximate locations of Iranian missile impacts in Israel’s capital over the past two weeks. Could the IRGC actually be trying to hit Al Aqsa in some deranged Hail Mary attempt to frame Israel for damaging it?

A husband-hunting expert released a guide for how women can look sexier to find a rich, handsome husband--but it was light on proof. I have the proof to back up (and refute) some of her claims. Link in replies.

@RPLongSW @CartoonsHateHer @econosopher @Sanilac_J That’s probably a bit of a simplification in that part of it is that these people just move in different circles, but, yes, I think the young attorney would be embarrassed to introduce the woman with big fake boobs, lots of lip filler, etc. to his friends and family.

@RPLongSW Never heard of the Saucony Jazz, but I’ve only been regularly buying running shoes since 2016. At the least, the Bondi is a fantastic shoe for walking all day. Your feet will never get tired. I’ve used them for a fair amount of trail running too, holds up well.

Back in the Bondi business. The Hoka Bondi is a divisive shoe. Many runners hate the “mushy” feel, but I’ve always liked them for easy runs and walking around. The ultimate time on feet & chill shoe. Haven’t had a pair since 2021. Decided to bring them back in the rotation.

@theronrockstone @CartoonsHateHer @econosopher @Sanilac_J Do you think the average man gives a hoot about “presenting their wives/girlfriends socially?” I understand that *some* men are so status-obsessed that it nullifies their own preferences, but how common do you think this is among men in general?

@CartoonsHateHer @econosopher @Sanilac_J I haven’t read all of it, but the focus on e-girls in the setup to “telling the truth” makes me think it relies on what men like…in their spare time…versus who they want to present socially. I’m an attorney at a large law firm. I know lots of guys making $200k+.

I also do this thing where I write 10x better if I first see an example of terrible writing. “Fuck, I can do that so much better…” AI is great for this because it writes absolute dreck, showing me exactly why my version is superior.

The principle advantages of AI to writers are: 1) frictionless, instantaneous research, and 2) AIs will talk to you endlessly about your book, long after your wife & friends & writer’s club get tired of hearing about it and responding. These are the correct ways to write with AI.
Daniel Friedman@DanFriedman81

I am not outraged by writers using AI to write their novels for them. I understand the argument for being outraged: Books were used to train the LLMs, and therefore using LLM produced text in your novel is akin to plagiarism. I don’t think using AI is akin to plagiarism and I don’t think it should be punished in the same way plagiarism would be — by having the book recalled and pulped. If the editors who acquired this slop thought it was good enough to publish, and the readers who bought the self-published version thought it was good enough to read, then this slop book I won’t read is probably as good as most of the human-produced slop I also won’t read. I think using AI is more like paying a “developmental editor” or a ghostwriter to rework your manuscript and then not giving them credit. Which, frankly, is a thing writers do all the time. (With the caveat that if AI inserts text directly lifted from another book into an author’s manuscript, the author is strictly responsible, just as they would be if an uncredited human ghostwriter committed plagiarism in their manuscript). I think AI writing sucks, but a lot of human writers are worse than AI. Bad human writers can potentially use AI to make their bad writing into bad AI writing, instead of whatever cursed thing it was before, and that raises the floor of how bad a novel can be. This is a threat to the existence of a lot of working writers who are better than most humans but worse than AI. It means that writers who are worse than them can be better than them if they use AI to glow up their prose. I don’t care about this because I think I am better than AI. So, for the next week or until I get bored, every time I post, I am going to prompt Grok to write a post on the same topic with the same general substance in my voice and then I will post a screenshot of Grok’s take on my prompt as a reply under my post, and you can tell me if I have anything to worry about.

When I started criticizing sex pseudoscience, the line of attack was: "Are you a biologist?" "Yes." "Do you have a PhD?" "Yes." "In what?" "Evolutionary biology." "Where did you get your PhD?" "At UCSB, a top-ranked university for my field." "Oh, but are you a Christian?" "No. I'm an atheist." "But you're MAGA." "No, I don't support Trump." (true at the time) "You support JK Rowling so you're a transphobe." "I'm... not a transph–" "BIGOT!!" Essentially, they only bring up your lack of a PhD because it's the quickest thing they can use to disregard your opinion. But if you had a PhD, they'd just move down the list to the next thing they can use to disregard your view. And the next... When you get to the bottom of their list unscathed, they'll just assume you're a bigot or a grifter. You just hate trans people. Oh you just wanted to sell your book. There's nothing you can be, do, or say to make them consider you might have a valid opinion.

Richard Feynman’s savage takedown of pseudo-science still burns in 2026: “Social science is an example of a science which is not a science. They follow the forms… but they don’t get any laws. They haven’t found out anything.” He goes harder: Experts who “sit at a typewriter and make up” claims — “organic food is better,” “this diet cures everything” — as if it’s settled science, when no rigorous experiments or checks have been done. Feynman: “I know what it means to really know something. How careful you have to be. How easy it is to fool yourself. I see how they get their information… and I can’t believe that they know.” The Nobel physicist calls it straight: most of what passes for “expert” opinion is noise dressed up as knowledge. In an age drowning in TikTok “science,” influencers, and clickbait studies — Feynman’s 1:52 rant feels more relevant than ever. Who’s the biggest pseudo-expert that grinds your gears right now? Clip is timeless fire — watch it and feel the clarity.

The saddest thing about the Omincause is the gentle, slightly autistic people who get hoodwinked into taking the issue du jour sincerely. Imagine still being passionate about, say, SUSTAINABILITY, like a Japanese holdout after WW2, confused and angry why you've been abandoned.
