@RPLongSW Don't conflate my lack of interest with social media presence with a lack of understanding on the topic. Charter schools have become a sort of controlled opposition to the actual problems with education.
English

@xanon597443 Good question. Based on conversations with my kids, I think they just teach the fundamentals (shading, scaling, etc), they simply do it earlier than other schools.
English

@TGoTX1 @Pantherpup777 An account with 68 followers having a conversation with an account with zero followers. Seems very legit.
English

@Pantherpup777 @RPLongSW I would have said lying leadership, but maybe it was delusion, who can say? The results say whatever it was, it wasn't good.
English

@togdali Totally agreed. I’m so glad you found a good fit. Best of luck to you and your little guy!
English

@RPLongSW We did, I think. He's happy and healthy. I only regret that he hasn't read Dickens and may never read Dickens. But I think there is something wrong with many very good schools: They seem to produce boys who are fearful, nervous, overly compliant. America needs brave men.
English

@RPLongSW All my kids went to Great Hearts in AZ. Fantastic education.
English

@togdali You’re not wrong. You have to find a school that speaks to your child, otherwise like you say, it damages their spirit. I hope you found the right match!
English

I wanted a classical education for my son but the kids at the classical schools were shy and awkward and the teachers in the lower grades too harsh. It was crushing his spirit. We switched to the public school. I reasoned: He can always learn more on his own, but damage to a young child’s spirit makes a permanent wound.
English

@RPLongSW Can I ask what grade they start latin in the charter school? Sounds great!
English

@Pantherpup777 Interesting comment from an account with zero followers. Actually, my kids’ school is doing great with math and science.
English

@RPLongSW Beware with the charter schools. Watch for rapid teacher turnover and check in with your kid to make sure they are really learning. I had kids in a classical charter for 7 years, and the math/science suffered immensely and it was mainly just a humanities education

I’m not even coping when I say this but I genuinely believe 5’11-6’2 are the best male heights. You have the best overall athletes and fighters in this range and even for aesthetics this is like male model height. Above this generally looks odd and below it loses masculinity
Charco@charcoded
5’5: woman 5’6: unconscionable sins in a prior life 5’7-5’10: combat optimized 5’11: chud 6’: boyfriend optimized 6’1-6’2: first date optimized 6’3-6’4: MD before 30 6’5+: freak
English

@analytichegel @worst_account Mathematics is a priori, too; always has been. And yet no one who understands mathematics at a theoretical level has a problem with this. Economics is just math-theory-type a priori logic applied narrowly to one social science.
English

@worst_account > the fundamental truths of economics being a priori is maybe the ultimate example of a claim that few people would disagree with
Really?? This view seems totally unintuitive to me, and I can’t conceive of anybody being drawn to the view unless they are already sold on mises
English

@RPLongSW @GreatHeartsAcad Not in SC. I’m not surprised by that at all. 😬
English

@timotheeology Bro, what even is this video? “I do not say this lightly,” he says, and then proceeds to say something that even first-day catechumens understand better than he does. This was the largest pile of nonsense I’ve ever heard. He can just google things before recording videos!

Reason #5 by Huff:
He thinks the divine liturgy of RC/EO somehow isn't Christian, even though it goes all the way back to the 1st century
English

Wes Huff 🧵
Mistaken view on RC/Protestantism #1:
Wes Huff believes that by dividing "what Scripture is" & "what Scripture does," one proves Scripture's sufficiency w/o Tradition
But the former isn't independent of human authorship/canon-selection & the latter isn't independent of authoritative interpretation--both of which prioritize Tradition
English

@StMichael71 Feel free to come pray with us at your local Orthodox Church. We do this every year.
English

@lebosquet Yeah, he’s a very talented guy that it unfortunately took me years to “get.” I went crazy for this album when it came out, but I was like 8. I got older and “too cool” for it. Now I’m back to what my 8yo self already knew.
English

@RPLongSW A mentor took me to see him in 90s at small venue. He was good.
English

@PhilWMagness I thought this species died out after everyone started trying to rehabilitate Marxism as “democratic socialism,” but I guess that was just wishful thinking on my part. 😆

What’s my favorite Bruce Hornsby song, you ask?
That’d be this one:
