Right now, FedNow only allows transfers between two U.S. banks. This proposal opens the door for intermediaries to plug in and facilitate the international side of a payment. NOW READ THIS CAREFULLY. Ripple National Trust Bank has already been conditionally approved by the OCC. That charter would allow Ripple to custody digital assets, facilitate lending, and potentially gain direct access to Fed services like FedNow for instant payments. The next step? The Fed Master Account application. That's what connects a chartered bank directly into the Federal Reserve's payment systems. Ripple is still waiting on that approval. That's not speculation. The Financial Planning Association's peer-reviewed journal published an analysis of how Ripple and $XRP are building the bridge for cross-border transactions.
