Minnesotans were promised a smooth, sustainable Paid Leave program. Instead, the state has already paid out nearly $600 million while collecting just $344 million in payroll taxes. Under current law, the state can increase the payroll tax if needed to keep the program funded. Even worse, some Minnesotans recovering from cancer, welcoming a new baby, or facing other serious medical issues have waited months for approval while bills continue to pile up. I know some of these people! Higher taxes and delayed benefits are not what Minnesotans were promised. @idksmgdh @allieknightt on point 3 about climate change, conservatives for the most part don't deny that the climate is changing. We deny the amount that humans have impacted the overall climate.

as a pragmatic and not radical white male liberal heres why: a lot of people have this idea that every lib wants socialism, wants to defund the police and let immigrants flood the border. thats not the case as i dont support that. 1. corporations have too much power. I love capitalism and the free market but I want the gov to reel in how much companies are fucking the consumer over via (reasonable) regulations. this goes against the conservative belief to implement very few regulations on companies and let the market regulate itself via competition and consumer choices. 2. believer in reproductive rights (contraception, abortions) 3. i want to protect the environment by limiting carbon emissions. not a big issue for conservatives as a good amount of them deny climate change. 4. im a big believer in using tax payer money for social services like social security, free/more afforadable healthcare, subsidized day care/child care similar to nordic countries like sweden. conservatives want to lower taxes so social services aren't that big of a priority 5. i value immigrants as a lot of them are very hardworking and form the economic foundation of america but i also want the border to be secure and have an orderly process for immigrants to immigrate here legally 6. i want change. conservative ideology is focused on tradition and not making significant change in how things work. there's too many problems in this country for things to run on a status quo ideology 7. this should be something both sides support but i do believe in the general consensus of scientists as opposed to conspiracy theories that contradict said consensus. i dont analyze scientific studies on any deep level nor know how to adequately read them so im not going to assume i know more than a bunch of experienced scientists.
