This afternoon, MDFC hosted key stakeholders, funders, implementing partners, and other #CSOs working on SRHR to disseminate Strengthening the Network of Abortion Providers #SNAP Rwanda Project. This workshop aimed to showcase the progress made over the past four months and assess the impact of our efforts. The SNAP Rwanda project addresses barriers to accessing safe abortion services, particularly for individuals in areas served by faith-based health facilities. Through our service referral system, the SNAP team—comprising a medical doctor, midwife, and clinical psychologist trained in VCAT and CAC—is ready to provide services. If a client first seeks care at a faith-based facility, our system ensures seamless, stigma-free, and timely referrals. Additionally, we are tackling the lack of accurate information on safe abortion services through a toll-free helpline. This helpline supports clients in accessing care while also assisting healthcare providers who may face challenges in service provision. Together with our partner organizations, we remain committed to empowering women and girls with knowledge about SRHR and ensuring they have access to a friendly, stigma-free referral system that supports them throughout their journey. No woman should die from unsafe abortion. We stand by our commitment: “NO WOMAN, NO EXCEPTION.” Advocacy must continue, and we must keep pushing for greater accessibility to services. The journey is ongoing, but together, we can help women and girls live the lives they choose.

Last week, in collaboration with our partners, we advanced Rwanda's specialized cardiac services to new levels of excellence. Professor David Bradly, working alongside the local team, performed the country’s first electrophysiology study and catheter ablation procedures on both pediatric and adult patients with various arrhythmias at the hospital's cardiac catheterization lab. This treatment is vital for addressing abnormalities in the heart's electrical system, providing care for patients with complex conduction issues who would otherwise have needed to travel abroad. Additionally, this initiative supports capacity building, ensuring the sustainability of these specialized services in Rwanda. #KFHcares #cardicheroes
