In the European Parliament, the interpreter and some of the audience could not hold back tears during the speech of 11-year-old Roman Oleksiv from Lviv.
On December 10, Roman came to Brussels for a presentation of documentaries about Ukrainian children to tell his story to MEPs and urge them to "never give up" because "when we are together, we are strong."
Roman survived a Russian missile strike on Vinnytsia on July 14, 2022, which killed his mom. He underwent 36 surgeries and lengthy rehabilitation due to severe burns and injuries.
