@mitchellvii I was gong to buy a used BMW because the price seems tight. I researched and found after 100k they seem to just have expensive issues.

Well, I dropped a thousand bucks getting all new spark plugs and ignition coils on my BMW 650. I was hoping this would fix the drivetrain error and the fact that the thing is in "limp mode." That means at low speed, it chugs like it's gonna die. The mechanic told me that he was also seeing some errors with the high pressure fuel valves. Apparently, these are something that causes the engine to spray fuel into the motor at high pressures to deal with the turbo and all that. Anyway, long story short, fixing the plugs and the coils didn't solve the problem. Now I've got to drop another $1,500 on the fuel valves. So now I'm into this thing for about $2,500. 😥 That's the problem with these eight-cylinder twin turbo engines. It's just a matter of time before they COST you. It's too bad because I was planning to sell this car and get something newer, but now I have to do the repairs first, because nobody's going to buy it chugging down the street.

Is this what you thought Yellowstone Park was like? Unmoving traffic jams lasting 1-3 hours; rivaling that of suburban areas in big cities. Nowhere to park. Insane prices. Tourists harassing animals, littering, picking flowers, influencers everywhere, sticking their hands in basins and ruining them, no good camping spots left because people use AI programs to snatch up the good ones within milliseconds of the site opening up, and most of your day spent behind Asian tourist busses. The overwhelming amount of tourists have made the park experience unbearable. You used to be able to go there and explore nature peacefully. Now it's worse than Disneyland.

@contractorkeith If you have no savings and put it all in your house, you could have nothing. Money tied up in a house limits options

Fact: If you pay your house off it’s always paid off. Fact: if you instead put that money into stocks based on “historic data” and the market crashes, you could lose it all, or a big portion. And you would still owe on the house. I will never understand how staying in debt supersedes investment money. Pay off the mortgage then start investing that amount but be debt free. The secure feeling alone is worth it. Plus a paid for home grows in value, can be used as a rental, etc. I am far from Dave Ramsay on debt but if you’ve ever lost everything and been homeless during 2008 or another crash you might know where I am coming from, too many people only look at the last 10-15yrs of data.

I spoke to a woman yesterday who teaches college students. She said it’s not uncommon for them to submit papers without capitalization. She’s had to teach some that “i” should be capitalized when it stands alone. I’d be willing to bet most had 3.0 or higher GPAs in high school.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but billionaires tend to do lot more good for society with their money than the government.
