*வத்தகுழம்பு மாஹாத்மியம் - சுஜாதா* (சமையல்கலையும் விட்டு வைக்கலை மனுஷன்) வத்தகுழம்பு, இது இருந்து விட்டால் ஒரு ஆழாக்கு சாதம் கூட அசால்டாக இறங்கும். வத்த வத்த வைப்பதால் வத்தகுழம்பா இல்லை வத்தல் போட்டு வைப்பதால் வத்தகுழம்பா? வத்தகுழம்பிற்கு ஏற்றது மணதக்காளி வத்தலோ சுண்டைக்காய் வத்தலோ தான். சின்ன வெங்காயம் கூட பரவாயில்லை. பூண்டு உண்பவர்கள் அதையும் வெங்காயத்துடன் சேர்த்து கொள்ளலாம். ஆனால் இவை எல்லாம் பஞ்சாங்கத்தை ஐபோனில் பார்ப்பது போன்ற உணர்வு. வத்தல் மட்டுமே ஓரிஜினல். மத்தபடி காய்கறி கூட நோ நோ தான். வத்தலுக்கு அடுத்தபடியாக முக்கியம் நல்லெண்ணெய். மீதி எண்ணெய் எதற்குமே கட்டாயம் தடா. புது புளியும் வேண்டாம் பழைய புளியும் வேண்டாம். ஒரு டீன் ஏஜ் புளி அசத்தும். வத்தகுழம்பிற்கு கை பக்குவம் எவ்வளவு முக்கியமோ அவ்வளவு முக்கியம் அதை வைக்கும் சட்டி. கும்பகோணம் கல்சட்டி பெஸ்ட். மங்களகரமாக வைக்கலாம் கமகம வத்தக்குழம்பு. கும்பேஸ்வரர் கோவில் கடைகளில் கட்டாயம் கிடைக்கும். குழம்பிற்கு வறுக்கப்படும் வத்தலை முதலில் வறுத்து அதிலேயே புளியிடாமல், தனியாக எடுத்து வைத்து கொண்டு கடைசியாக சேர்ப்பது குழம்பிற்கே புது அவதாரத்தை தரும். குழம்பு கொதிக்கும் பொழுது சேர்க்கப்படும் கறிவேப்பில்லை ஜன்ம சாபல்யம் பெறும். மூடக் கூடாது, அடுப்பை சிம்மில் வைத்து கொதித்து கொதித்து எண்ணெய் பிரிந்து வரும் அழகை பார்க்க கண் கோடி வேண்டும். எண்ணெய் பிரிந்த பின் இறக்கி வைக்கப்பட்ட வத்தகுழம்பு இங்கிலாந்து வரை இழுக்கும். பின்னர் அதில் வறுத்த வத்தலை சேர்த்ததோடு மட்டுமில்லாமல் ஒரே ஒரு ஸ்பூன் பச்சை நல்லெண்ணெய் சேர்த்தால் அந்த மணத்திற்கு எந்த மலரும் ஈடாகாது. வத்தகுழம்பு வைக்க தெரிந்து இருப்பதை விட முக்கியம் அதை சாப்பிட தெரிவது. சாதத்தை அழுத்தி பிசைந்து, வத்தக்குழம்பு சாதம் சாப்பிடுபவன் அடுத்த ஜன்மத்தில் பல பாவத்திற்கு ஆளாவான். இன்று பிறந்த குழந்தையை தூக்குவதை போல் மிகவும் அழுத்தம் கொடுக்காமல், சாதத்தை பிசைய வேண்டும். பிசைய என்று வார்த்தையை கூட அழுத்தாமல் படிக்க வேண்டும். என்ன தான் சாப்பாட்டிற்கு நெய் என்பது மன்னனின் மகுடம் போல என்றாலும் இங்கே அதற்கு வேலை இல்லை. இது நல்லைண்ணை ராஜாங்கம். சுடச்சுட சாத்தத்தோடு ஒரு தாராளமான ஸ்பூன் நல்லெண்ணை விட்டு சாதத்தை உதிர்த்த பின் அதன் மேலே வத்தகுழம்பை விட்டு நிற்க, சாம்பார் சாதம் மாதிரி மொத்தமாக பிசைய வேண்டாம். அப்பப்போ கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக பிசிறி பிசிறி சாப்பிட, நல்ல மழையில் SPB குரலில் இளையராஜா Melodies கேட்பது போல், Sidedish க்கு இங்கே வேலை இல்லை. இல்லாமல் முடியாது என்போர்க்கு அப்பளம் 0K. சுட்டது இன்னும் சூப்பர். இன்னும் சிறப்பு தயிர் சாதத்தை மையாய் மசித்து, கையில் சிறிது சாதம் எடுத்து கொண்டு நடுவிலே சிறு பள்ளமிட்டு அதை வத்த குழம்பால் நிரப்பி, அடடா சூப்பர் ஸ்டார் படத்தை அவருடனேயே உட்கார்ந்து பார்த்த பரவசம். சாதத்திற்கு மட்டுமல்ல, அடைக்கு கூட வத்தகுழம்பு நல்ல combination. வெங்கட்பிரபுவும் பிரேம்ஜியும் போல. முடித்த பின் கடைசியாக தட்டில் ஒரே ஒரு கரண்டி மட்டும் விட்டு வழித்து நக்கப்படும் ஒரு நல்ல வத்தக்குழம்பின் மணமும், ருசியும், World Cup ல் தோனி அடித்த சிக்ஸர் போலே என்றுமே நினைவில் நிலைத்திருக்கும். எழுத்தாளர் திரு.சுஜாதா அவர்களை தவிர வேறு யாரால் இவ்வாறு யோசிக்க முடியும்?! ரசிக்க ருசிக்க உங்களுக்கு.. அரசு நாயகன்

Best part of tambram weddings used to be sitting around in foldable green steel chairs and chat with extended family or your new crush (who you later find out is same gothram and would be a veto) for hours late night on cricket, movies and music and then go to sleep in random dusty jamakkalams amidst all cousins, uncles, kids of varying sizes, only to be woken up by some mami that it’s time for muhurtam or nalangu or kasi yatra or something. Now this whole thing is taken over by Naach-Gana. Everything else is drowned out by this and no one has energy for anything else.

Sattur ! Reminds me of Sattur Krishna Iyengar, a doyen in the field of carnatic music. Contemporary of Tiger Varadhachar. Several artists of older generation had their native town in the names fully such that when we refer to them, we mention the place !! Like " semmangudi, musiri, ariyakudi , mudikondan" etc !!
