Understand where we are. Every scumbag murderer, rapist, child molester, etc. is leaning hard on insanity defenses to get off scot-free. Because judges are letting them get away with it. Just like most of a certain ethnic group start bleating, "Cam't breaf!" as soon as a cop lays hands on them.

Every time right wingers get mad about one of these cases, there are a bunch of liberal and even centrist responses arguing that, no, you just don’t understand, that all of this is necessary and good and constitutionally protected. But this tries to gloss over that there is genuine disagreement about what to do with people like this when guilt is not in doubt. I’m not an expert, but I understand the system in broad strokes and I understand all the arguments for the status quo. I disagree that it’s necessary or that we would lose something important by expediting this guy‘s execution.

I am imploring that the collective internet take a step back and understand how the justice system works, that this is not a plea of insanity at the time of the murder, and incompetence to stand trial is not a defense of the crime. It is a constitutionally protected right, that you have to be able to understand the proceedings and help in your defense. Also, this trial is not over, the defense and prosecutor agreed to a 180 day hold, and the trial will continue once it is determined he is fit to stand trial. I like everyone else want to see him found guilty for the heinous crime, but the rage bait/ignorance over this is too much. Just guessing, but if I were to predict the direction of the progressive movement in the next 5-10 years I think the gender bending and sexuality centering will end. They’ll still have the odd mention of pride, but it’s going to be more of an after thought. The movement is clearly becoming more and more Islamic. They’re going to be doubling down on the racial hatred of white people and of their hatred of the west, but the race stuff will be more subtle. The US did this, instead of the white cishet-patriarchy but it means the same. Less rainbow-black communism, more red green alliance.

@doobydooby30 @st_louis_stan I am one! I spend a LOT of time volunteering at two different wildlife rescues, and I love birdwatching and hiking. I just don't think that Donald Trump is going to log all our national forests and sell the land to the red Chinese, I don't think that will happen
