most startups treat their launch as the story. it’s definitively not.. it should be just the opening line. what actually happens now is that there is typically one big launch video, then silence, then occasional product announcements that nobody asked for & nobody remembers. there’s no connective tissue. each piece of content has to justify itself from zero because there’s no accumulated world for it to inhabit. what you should be doing is designing the launch as chapter one of a long book… i.e. don’t fucking create a standalone film. every week you’re adding a page to that damn book.. this is a feature, a use case, a small revelation about what the product knows & why that matters. the content continues. what does this do? well this compounds like hell. audiences who follow a narrative become invested in its resolution. they feel the absence when a chapter’s missing. that’s a completely different relationship than “i saw their launch video once.” this is what we will do with skye.

Paper just helped @stripe explore visuals for their annual letter launch. We used image tools, filters, and the new Halftone CMYK shader. Stripe is how Paper is available around the world. Glad we could bring this story to life for them.

Massive trend I've seen in YC companies as well. The demand for internal AI transformations seems to be endless. Anyone working on an agency play here to fill the gap?

I recently spoke to a marketer who ran a $40M brand with just two designers and ONE AI process. I paid him 6 figs to build these systems for my companies. He chains together 7 AI tools: creative brief → image gen → scale winning assets. All run by 2 offshore designers. I’m giving away his entire operating system for free. Comment “AI” and I’ll send it.

I irrationally hate that iMessage doesn’t auto-add contact photos. I’d pay for an app where I upload my contacts and it finds and fills in their profile photos from LinkedIn or Instagram. Anyone have a solution for this?

I took for granted the founder friendly culture at a16z and always being in service of the founder. Because my god now that I'm on the other side there's so much bad behavior: - VCs that ghost you - VCs taht don't read your deck even for 30 seconds

well, I’ve come to realize more and more that you just have to build internal tools for the stuff you need and try to find the best infrastructure tools for stuff that you shouldn’t build. pretty much everything is a wrapper for something else at this point. like all these mail for agents, wallets for agents, sandboxes for agents are just wrappers for aws, stripe etc. I just build my own stuff. like for instance built a whole bunch of them, the core of what is needed to achieve super productivity. todos, memory, messages, economy, assistants (lightweight alternative to openclaw), connectors, skills. and a few more. like the core pieces that are CLI, MCP and SDK. and they work well together. like for instance i just spin off claude instances (codex cli doesn’t have loops yet), and set their loop to 1 min and say: here’s your plan, add tasks and talk to each other and build the app. only cancel the loop when app is finished. don’t get me wrong it’s costly but very fascinating to watch. anyways, i made it all open source, can check npm/github @hasna slash todos, conversations etc.

How is everyone evaluating Ai products for their business? Our issues: 1) lack of trust with some of these products 2) spending time learning a product takes time & 3) you decide on one product, but another launches the next day with better functionality Am I the only one feeling stuck?

Nothing gives me more confidence in our roadmap than a Series A competitor with a Head of QA. That's not a hire. That's a white flag with a LinkedIn announcement.

One caveat: we are using the popular tools like open ai, Claude, midjourney, etc. because it’s clear people like them, we like them, and it’s hard to believe that they aren’t going to be state of art for awhile

In our company we realized that every person is already using AI in some capacity, but efficiency is lost because there is not standard process - some ppl using inferior tools than others, no central context management system, wasted efforts and subpar results for some while others are crushing it. As CEO you will not be able to provide tooling from the top down because you lack context in the day to day. Instead you need to have each org leader (product, engineering, design, etc..) gather context around how everyone in their org is using AI tools and then work with them on a plan to standardize the process which is a net positive for the org as a whole. Through this, certain employees will excell in deepening their relationship with the tools, and that becomes the new standard.

just built a swipe file of 58 VSLs actively scaling on facebook right now not theory, not 2021 examples current 7-8 figure ads that are printing today inside you'll find: → long-form problem → agitation → mechanism breakdowns → short hooks that stop the scroll in 3 seconds → on-lander VSLs built for warm traffic → hybrid advertorial + VSL structures → 12+ niches: supplements, skincare, weight loss, gadgets, beauty and more you'll see exactly: → how they hook in the first 3 seconds → where the mechanism drops → how they stack proof → how they kill objections before the viewer thinks them if you're running ads this saves you weeks of testing if you're not, it shows you what winning creative looks like in 2026 rt + comment "vsl" and i'll send the full swipe file (follow for dm)

Agentic engineering is completely rewriting the role of a software engineer, but how we hire and evaluate talent hasn't caught up. We're fixing that, by defining a new engineering role at Tolan: Agent Engineering Manager.
