When criminal law becomes too expansive and unclear, it puts liberty at risk and distracts from real threats to public safety. Counting the federal crimes is a simple step toward accountability and transparency ⤵️

"The safest communities focus on what actually reduces crime. The First Step Act was grounded in that reality. The Safer Supervision Act builds on it. Together, they represent a results-driven approach that aligns with President Trump’s agenda to restore law and order in this country." @tolmanbrett @REFORM thehill.com/opinion/crimin…

It's clear these officers should not be facing an indictment for their heroic acts. And it is correct that grand jury reform is much needed — changes like statutorily requiring the presentation of exculpatory evidence and prohibiting grand jury 'shopping' (as we've seen in Austin with LEOs) would help prevent wrongful prosecutions.

The Austin Police Association @ATXPOA has asked my team to represent the 3 heroes that took down the terrorist killer who attacked our community. Unfortunately they will face a Grand Jury hearing - as is the process directed to the Travis County DA by the Wren Collective. We will be with them every step of the way. Rep Little I’d be happy to visit with you about Grand Jury reform!

When everything is a crime, the system loses focus. Law enforcement resources are stretched thin. Public safety suffers. And ordinary Americans risk lifelong consequences for rules they didn’t even know existed. The Count the Crimes to Cut Act would require the federal government to count and catalog every federal crime — bringing transparency, accountability, and a renewed focus on real threats to public safety ⤵️

Over-supervising low-risk individuals doesn’t make us safer — it stretches the limited resources of the justice system and wastes taxpayer dollars. ROC Senior Fellow @TheJaRonSmith discussed how the Safer Supervision Act would refocus federal supervision where it matters most: on real public safety threats 👇

"Today’s federal supervision system wrongly relies heavily on a one-size-fits-all approach, often imposing lengthy and rigid supervision length and conditions regardless of an individual’s risk level or progress. When low-risk individuals are over-supervised, taxpayer resources are wasted, probation officers are stretched thin, and community safety ultimately suffers." @RachelWrightROC @tolmanbrett rightoncrime.com/the-safer-supe…

Prosecutors play a critical role in public safety. This week in Washington, D.C., ROC’s @KurtMAltman attended the @ndaajustice Prosecutor Advocacy Conference to discuss the importance of innovative, evidence-based prosecution strategies that deliver real results, and help strengthen the justice system where it has fallen short.

"It is time for the federal government to fully follow the lead of the states and ensure that in America, a path to redemption is not just a dream, but a legal reality for all who have earned it." 👏 townhall.com/columnists/rac…

The Trafficking Survivors Relief Act is now law, and it’s a win for justice and public safety. For survivors forced into non-violent crimes by their traffickers, the TSRA creates a federal path to clear their records, rebuild their lives, and keep communities safer in the process. But this solution is just the beginning 👇 @RachelWrightROC @tolmanbrett townhall.com/columnists/rac…

The best news! Now survivors of human trafficking can finally seek to expunge their records and move on with their lives.
