NYC has continued to grow, but because the city largely doesn't control its own taxing authority, revenue has fallen as a share of GDP over the last two decades. NYC is overdue for raising revenue.

🚨 NEW from me: @NYCMayor inherited a historic budget gap from Eric Adams. He has three options to close it: drastically cut vital services New Yorkers rely on, raise property taxes on working families, or ask millionaires to pay a little bit more. Here's what you need to know:

I just want to give a shoutout to Ahmed Tigani, the commissioner of DOB. This man was personally workshopping with tenants during the day and then answering questions from the public on his personal Instagram at like 8pm on a Friday. What an amazing choice @NYCMayor

On this day in 1965, Che Guevara visited Limerick and socialised with locals in Hanratty’s and the White House Bar as his flight was held up in Shannon Airport. “In my son’s veins flowed the blood of Irish rebels.” - Che’s father, Ernesto Guevara Lynch ☘️

I feel like once again the rest of the country just doesn't notice or care about what New Yorkers are going through. We won't forget who stayed silent though.

❄️NYC is under its first Blizzard Warning in 8 years and here are the latest forecasts and prediction market expectations: Earlier this week, the GFS (American) model was projecting ~16 inches while the ECMWF (European) was closer to ~8. Prediction markets leaned toward the higher end. The ECMWF has since shifted, and the NWS is now forecasting 13-18 inches for the five boroughs. @Kalshi has 10+ inches at 91%, 12+ at 83%, and 15+ at 61%. @Polymarket's top bucket — "13 or more inches" — is at 88%.

Every few years we rewatch Ken Burns' Baseball, and the heaviest moment is always Jesse Jackson's 1972 eulogy for Jackie Robinson. It's incredible

We celebrated Tony Migliaccio, owner of Noodle Pudding in Brooklyn Heights, for decades of incredible service to our community. For over 30 years Noodle Pudding has been a neighborhood institution! Every meal is superb and everyone is warmly welcomed.

In a city that moves a mile a minute, it shouldn’t take two years to get an affordable home through environmental review! Watch @NYCMayor stand with @GovKathyHochul to support streamlining state SEQR rules so we can deliver homes to New Yorkers faster & drive housing costs down.
