@SirIsaac_Brock @KalebPrime ARC Raiders released in October 2025, a half year before Marathon released.
They could not make the switchover towards PvE without delaying the release, which was already delayed. And it would likely have been a poorly implemented PvE too.
Marathon was always fucked.

My biggest gripe is the waste of resources, time, and effort it's attached to, and that includes effectively killing Destiny twoo (two + too) and pissing off D2 fans while at it.
From the billions spent by Sony to buy Bungie, to the whole art style and dev time only to chase yet another extraction shooter and come to the race in last place.
It's fine they wanted to appeal to a tryhard extraction shooter market, it's not fine to spend so much money and resources and kneecap yourself by chasing a small subset of the market. It's like no one learned anything from past "we want the tryhard audience" flops like Wildstar.
What did they expect it would happen?

It's crazy how the Lodoss OVA looked as beautiful as it did and lasted a full 13 episodes.
That's damn-near film-quality animation for a show as long as most cheaply-produced shows made today.

It's not THAT they sell merch.
It's that they lead with it, while already getting outside funding.
Also the toys came first in those shows. The shows were built around them. Glitch is just selling posters, 3D printed figures, and Temu Fumos.
