@ReviewsPossum I can understand bread. What I don’t understand is fermented fish. What mad man decided to ferment fish, recognise it smells fucking disgusting and then decides to still eat it. Much less deciding to use the fermented fish to create a sauce.

Starving people probably tried to eat the weird wild grass growing near them and experimented with different ways to make it not taste like shit, and found they could make it tolerable by grinding it up and mixing it with water. They probably then discovered by accident that if you leave a lump of this goo around, it ferments and puffs up. Then someone decided on a whim to heat up the fermented goo to see what would happen and became the world's first diabetic.

@ReviewsPossum I always wonder who invented bread Raw grains arent palatable to eat & dont offer much nutrition Grinding grains takes energy & the flour is even less palatable Add moisture & knead it again expends energy & still not palatable Then bake it but not burn it to get tasty nutrition

"How did the Taliban gain so much power?" "Son, once you find the answer, there's no going back."

@LucasBotkin @SlapLordActual Seems to be a trend with western trained forces. Either our training methods suck or the other side draws better men because they are fighting for a higher cause. Look at how long we trained the ANA and they handed the country over to the Taliban day one. youtube.com/watch?v=OJGdNd…

@53gaDr3amca5t I never looked into when paint pigments first appeared verses processed grains. Though aren't many early paint pigments from things that don't require heavy grinding. Such as ochre and burnt ash?

Kinda funny that in a sense we invented crushing and grinding material to become a more usable product for purely aesthetic reasons (making primitive paints and such) long before we did it to make food.

@Volke__ The UK really needs a clean sheet design. The Chieftain turret ring diameter is actively holding them back.

@OlgaBazova Ukraine gets flooded with aid and scores 0. While Lebanon gets almost none and scores at least some points. Despite both countries being under attack and Lebanon not having a strong centralized government or rule of law. Truly impressive.

In the 2026 global quality of life ranking, the wonderful and progressive Ukraine, built by Zelensky, scored a record-breaking zero (0.00), comfortably sitting below Iran and Somalia.

@MonPrimLemon Trump hates democracy. Which is why he accepted his defeat in 2020 and just ran again for re-election and won.

Kiev and their handlers keep thinking that Russia not hitting something, like cargo ships in this case, is because of a lack of capability, rather than a lack of will. Yet every time the escalation happens, Russia shows it to be the latter case. There is a reason this is a meme

Just Me@failure1991

In addition to the three hit on Sunday, the Russians have hit another cargo ship near Odessa today. I'm sure this means no cargo ships will go to Odessa, Ukraine will be cut off from supply and that all four are out of action. BTW all these hits are actually on camera.

@einhander14 @ReviewsPossum The energy intensive thing is more a reference that you put more energy into the work than you get out. We have no evidence of slavery existing back then, and even then you want your slaves to live, because it is dangerous and expensive to acquire them.

@RadarFennec @ReviewsPossum If people are starving they'll eat anything including tree bark. I'd imagine it was trial and error and you would have slaves for that kind of energy intensive work.

Imagine being the guy who invented the atlatl because no one else in tens of thousands of years of human history ever thought to use a stick to throw a stick farther before you came around and used your genius brain to figure it out.
