@BrokenUndda Tbh I haven't planted. But regarding heat, I was thinking of using a drip irrigation for roots and sprinkler system on the top. I will take the advice of a horticulture expert, although I was thinking of using Boston Ivy primarily. I have listed out various other challenges too.

@Radicalist481 Have you ever planted creepers in Delhi summers? I have on my terrace. They don't survive in harsh heat and need outrageous amount of water to sustain. The only climber suitable in such conditions is Bougainvillea. But they pose serious risk due its thorny nature

Hear me out folks... This is my first startup idea... -basically a green tunnel -using climbers and creepers -covers the entire section of a road, looks good, less heat -can add warm lights -can be installed even in areas where you cannot dig for soil (Imagined using ai)

Now waiting to see what material they use to cover the frame. Canvas, flexible polycarbonate sheet, or plastic... all of them will create a greenhouse effect and suffocate crowds. Meanwhile, why plant trees? Trees are cheap and a one-time cost. 😏

@nixonfan23 @JabberGroyper @UBERSOY1 This landfill is being cleaned. The waste is now used in making tiles and material for road construction. Also the height of this landfill is reduced by 20+ meters now. By next year there will be a park at this place.

I get that they lack taste and aesthetic sense, but I fail to understand what is their problem with trees?

@AFMI007RE And that expert and gardners will have a fixed salary. So any hidden extra cost? I can find any at the moment

@AFMI007RE What I am thinking is that once the structural module is done, and the plants are planted at the base of those structural modules, the only job will remain of the gardeners and horticulture experts to make sure the entire area at the top is covered without having excessive weight

@AFMI007RE Don't think so. With regular gardening, it would be cheap.

@Rennie_Mathews Yup. Municipality permission. Without proper DPR submission, approvals, funds released, it is not possible. But sensing the current state of heat waves in India, this idea might get traction.

@Radicalist481 Wish u all the best. It's a really wonderful endeavour and hope you get enough traction and support from all of us. You might need permission to erect anything on public land.

@Rohit7681831438 I can think of a few income sources 1. Govt funds 2. CSR 3. Ad-revenue if we install led screens on sides 4. Carbon Credits (super low if even audited) The real question is, will govt even think about funding something like this or even allow it to install? That needs to be seen

@Rennie_Mathews I think we can have CSR + Ad Revenue with modern led screens if we install + Carbon Credit sellout Plus we 'can' have funds from govt schemes. Self sustaining model without govt funds? Unlikely

India’s “standard city package” now includes: > 45°C heatwaves 🌡️ > AQI competing with gas chambers 🚬 > Corruption at every step 💸 > Roads designed like obstacle courses 🕳️ > Water purifier mandatory, not optional 🚰 > Packaged food with surprise ingredients 📦 > Fruits & veggies on chemical steroids 🍎 Bonus features: > Traffic that eats 2–3 hours daily 🚗 > Honking = background music 🔊 > Random power cuts ⚡ > Sewage smell in the name of “development” 🤢 > Illegal constructions everywhere 🏗️ > Illegal Immigrants living as freeloaders > Stray animals + garbage combo 🐄🗑️ > Floods after 30 mins of rain 🌧️ > Dust = free skincare layer 😷 And somehow… highest taxes + zero accountability 🙂
