@Regan83232451@franklinlorax Only about 25% of the plastic that is produced in the country is recycled, so it’s very cool that you’re apart of the people who do recycle here.
i make sure that i recycle plastic bottle and cans. so when we recycle this can reduce and limit the amount of waste we produce. also by recycling we can reduce our carbon footprint. #apeswaste@franklinlorax
Our chromebooks are one example of E-waste! Instead of our school giving us new ones each year, we reuse the same one for all of our years of schooling! This is very beneficial as it reduces e-waste which reduces a lot of toxic waste! #apeswaste@franklinlorax
This plastic water bottle is an example of plastic waste. Plastic debris clogs up landfills, blocks drains, pollutes waterways and contributes to biodiversity loss. It is important to recycle plastic in order to avoid such problems. @franklinlorax#apeswaste
Every year my family goes to Mackinac Island. When there, we have to be very mindful of what we throw away because the island doesn't have a landfill and they charge you for the trash you create. This promotes recycling on the island. #apeswaste@franklinlorax
When my family and I are making food, we throw our scraps into a bag and put them in our compost at the end of the night, so that instead of filling up landfills, we reuse what we have for a better purpose. #APESwaste@franklinlorax
@apes_omangan@franklinlorax It’s cool seeing people now finding other ways to get around since they have more time to bike, walk, etc. No more skrt skrt
because of the extended stay at home order, our car has barely left our garage! which is good because there’s less NOx being emitted from all of the cars, including our own. @franklinlorax#apesair
@NickBurroughs17@franklinlorax I wish people tried finding other ways to get around that doesn’t emit these gases, there are so many that reduce these emissions. Also, your DIY Lorax card is a beaut
Its important to recognize how our driving habits effect the environment. CO2, CO, and NO are are increasing in the atmosphere the more we drive. #apesair@franklinlorax
Motor vehicles emit harmful gases such as C02, CO, NO. Particulate matter, consisting of tiny particles of smoke, is also emitted. The emissions have caused the atmospheric CO2 concentrations to increase by 40% since pre-industrial times. @franklinlorax#apesair
I like riding my bike to stores near my house instead of driving there, because emotionless travel is always better for our environment 🌎 #apesair@franklinlorax
At my house, we use an electric stove which is a “heavy-draw appliance.” This means it uses quite a lot of power (1500 watts per hour). In order to conserve energy, my family reduces their overall cook time. #apesenergy@franklinlorax
@TylerApes@franklinlorax That’s pretty cool you can track the usage, you should definitely try to track and see when you use the least amount of electricity
I have installed a set of smart lights in my room a while back and the other day I learned I can track their electricity usage @franklinlorax#apesenergy
@AdamStJohn10@franklinlorax Aye I see you with the environmental friendly carbon emission reducing gas saving part electric whip. Very cool you’re choosing a way to drive that’s safer for the earth 🚗
I drive a Ford Fusion hybrid. This is very energy efficient because it’s part electric so it doesn’t use as much gas as other cars do. It’s better for the environment because there are less CO2 emissions than a lot other cars. @franklinlorax#apesenergy
It's important to know what kind of light bulb you use. Older light bulbs take way more energy to give off the same amount of light as newer ones using way less energy. @franklinlorax#apesenergy
The lights I use in my basement are very energy efficient. They are equivalent to a 100 watt light bulb, but only use 20 watts. They are also supposed to last up to 50,000 hours, which is about 48,000 more hours than a typical incandescent bulb 💡 #apesenergy@franklinlorax
@sarahlovesapes@franklinlorax Another method of keeping the trees for the coming generations would be to stop giving students in APES classes so much work 🙄 #joshing
When I was younger, this land by my house use to be full of trees, bodies of water, and vegetation. A bit less than a decade ago the trees were cut down and the land was turned into practice fields for Franklin High School, limiting trees in the area. 🌲 @franklinlorax#apesland
I have a big eco footprint along with many others in the US, but to try and reduce it, I use my LED strip lights to see in my room. They are 80% more effective than traditional lighting. They convert the energy into 95% light and only 5% is wasted as heat! #apespop@franklinlorax
