Failing spectacularly. A rocket test by private Chinese startup Deep Blue Aerospace trying to emulate SpaceX, ended in failure when the Nebula-1 did a hard landing, collapsed and exploded.

Hey everyone! I’m in need of some advice. As was briefly touched on in the Bloomberg article today, I would like to find some way to provide for myself long-term, build a house for me and my family if I can, and not be a burden on those around me any longer. Below is a poll of just a couple of ideas I have and I’d like to know which y’all think is my best chance. If you have any other suggestions please leave a comment! Honestly, I feel weird even asking. That's part of the reason why I haven't done any of these so far. It makes me feel icky. Sorry to even bring this up.

At the next election, it’s a two horse race between the @LibDems and the Conservatives in Honiton & Sidmouth. Labour has admitted they cannot win here, and local champions like @ClaireWrightInd are backing my campaign. Find out how you can help: richardfoord.org.uk

Saturnalia, an ancient Roman festival held in honor of the god Saturn, was a period of joyous celebration and merrymaking in honour of the god Saturn, held between 17 and 23 December. Originating in the V century BCE, this festival took place to mark the winter solstice. Lasting for several days, Saturnalia was a time when social norms were temporarily set aside, and the populace engaged in festivities that reflected the spirit of abundance and liberation. The holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn, in the Roman Forum, and a public banquet, followed by private gift-giving, continual partying, and a carnival atmosphere that overturned Roman social norms. A common custom was the election of a "King of the Saturnalia", who gave orders to people, which were followed and presided over the merrymaking. Gift-giving played a crucial role during Saturnalia, symbolizing the exchange of goodwill and fostering a sense of community. The gifts exchanged were usually gag gifts or small figurines made of wax or pottery known as sigillaria. This tradition was totally akin to our modern-day gift-giving during holidays and Christmas. The festival was also characterized by feasting and indulgence. Lavish banquets were organized, and the consumption of rich foods and wines was encouraged. These acts of excess were not merely hedonistic; they were seen as a way to honor the agricultural deity Saturn, who was associated with bounty and abundance. The atmosphere of Saturnalia was one of unrestrained joy, with various forms of entertainment taking center stage. The Roman citizens engaged in singing, dancing, and theatrical performances, providing a respite from the usual seriousness of daily life. The celebratory mood spilled into the streets, with public spaces transformed into lively hubs of activity. Its influence undoubtedly extended to later cultural celebrations, including the Christmas season. The Roman Catholic Church strategically incorporated certain Saturnalian customs into Christmas festivities, such as the practice of gift-giving and the emphasis on joyous celebrations. So, in case you want to pay a tribute to this ancient tradition, be merry and joyful. Happy Saturnalia!

@elonmusk If there was a simple 'Get Grok to challenge this post' feature then I might subscribe. Having an AI provide a scientific challenge to posts without having to look at alternative views and then have the X algorithm throw lots of that content at you would be valuable.

Grok AI (beta) is now rolled out to all 𝕏 Premium+ subscribers in the US. There will be many issues at first, but expect rapid improvement almost every day. Your feedback is much appreciated. Will expand to all English language users in about a week or so. Japanese is next priority (2nd biggest user base) and then hopefully all languages by early 2024.

Never expected to be an answer on a quiz show! This is from the BBC show ‘Pointless’ where contestants try to answer the questions which few other people knew the answer to, ideally the pointless ones! Unlike @GretaThunberg, who many people knew, I am officially pointless! 🤣

It is misinformation like this we try to address with data-driven analysis. If you are interested how well heat pumps perform during cold temperatures take a look at the data from field studies. We have collected it for you here so you don't have to.👇 twitter.com/janrosenow/sta…

NEW RESEARCH: Heat pumps are 2-3x more efficient than oil and gas based fossil heating systems in cold and sub zero temperatures. Even in temperatures approaching -30°C they perform significantly better than their fossil-fuel based competitors. All the detail here👇

@guyshrubsole Can you find 3500 people with £382 to 'own' a quarter of an acre of Dartmoor and put a clause in the land on the usage? Or run it like an Omaze draw?

@shellenberger @Orsted Is this big oil paying someone to rail against the wind industry? Or the wind industry using the same PR tactics as big oil to cover up their issues.? You could spend your entire life trying to figure out what's real nowadays....

The govt says the wind industry isn't killing whales, but it is. Here's the proof: another dead one, nicknamed "Faith." They found her yesterday at the @Orsted Southfork Wind site (#517), Rhode Island, right next to the (yellow) turbine base. 71st whale killed since last Dec

Gillian Keegans quote seems to sum up the sense of Tory entitlement. "Does anyone ever say, you know what, you've done a fucking good job cos everyone else has sat on their arse & done nothing... no signs of that, no?" Not a fan of Labour but anything is better than this..
