@BillHuntBits Forget all the social media noise about culture wars and petty nonsense… Star Trek succeeds when, at its core it has a backbone of solid sci-fi storytelling backed by imaginative & enlightening ideas, moral questions about humanity & believable and consistent character writing.

The space portions for the Battle of Endor at the end of Return of the Jedi are honestly still nothing short of an achievement. Every single shot is so complex. I’ll forever be blown away by how time and effort went into bringing this battle to life. Such a wonderful blend of practical and digital effects.

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos says BARBIE and OPPENHEIMER would have been just as big on Netflix. “There’s no reason to believe that the movie itself is better in any size of screen for all people. My son’s an editor, he watched ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ on his phone.” via @nytimes

"Nobody is ever going to talk about Michael Burnham the way they talk about Kirk, Picard, and Sisko." And that's a huge tell. None of the modern characters (nor interpretations of older characters) will survive future decades. Nobody's going to demand deluxe boxed hi-def sets of STD nor SNW. All of this shit will live (and die) with its streaming service(s). And nobody will remember, nor care.

The people who make Star Trek in 2025 have been actively trolling old-school Trekkies for years, but this really is the final boss. A huge, gay, glee club middle finger to everyone who liked and enjoyed Star Trek from the 1960s through the end of the 1990s. The theater kids run the franchise, now. And they want to make sure you know it, Boomer.

@BradRTorgersen Exactly this! What a waste to have a funded multi million dollar production and use it to troll the fans.

Modern TREK can’t even come up with their own promo campaign. At least LOWER DECKS had the good humor and reverence to pay tribute to the original series’ Feature Films with their season promos. This is reason 4,397 why STAR TREK has been driven into irrelevancy…

@SenSchumer The only thing you need to keep fighting for are extra discounts at Dennys to help feed your pals The Baileys during your soon to be official retirement. Thank you for your service and for selling out the country to a dictator.

@HDMOVIESOURCE @UltraHDBluray @realmikefox @DocBrownLloyd 100% exactly this. I walked out with chills and a sense of community from a packed theater on a Sat afternoon. Hollywood should learn the lesson of why these revival showings are selling out box office while newly released movies are floundering.

Back to the Future – IMAX Theater Thoughts Seeing Back to the Future in IMAX was like stepping into a time machine. Not just to 1985, but to the feeling of watching movies that truly mattered. The scale, the sound, and the energy in the room all came together. I’ve seen this film countless times, but this viewing felt fresh, alive, and even more emotional. The music hit hard. Alan Silvestri’s score filled the theater with warmth and excitement, and Huey Lewis still brings the power. The jokes landed, the heart was intact, and the performances from Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd reminded me why this movie became iconic in the first place. Watching it again in IMAX made me appreciate just how perfectly crafted it is. Every scene has purpose, every line has charm, and the pacing never lets up. It’s funny, heartfelt, and endlessly rewatchable. This was not just a nostalgia trip. It was a reminder that some movies never lose their magic. If you get a chance this weekend to see it in IMAX I thoroughly recommend it. @DestinyCaptain @gaghyogi49 I’m pretty sure most of TVH set was a new build. TSFS had an extremely tight budget. They used the torpedo room for both the BOP and the Merchantman. Thrifty those guys were!

@RalphGreco1 @gaghyogi49 Been thinking about this for a long time - years. Why didn’t they just convert the forward section of the torpedo set back to a Klingon style bridge for SFS? They ended up doing it for TVH.

In the #MacGyver pilot episode ⬆️, Angus MacGyver is also seen opening the torpedo bay hatch that is familiar to #StarTrek fans from "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"↙️ and "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock"↘️.

@gaghyogi49 I may be mistaken, but I also think earlier in the MacGyver episode there’s a section of that lab that looks like the rundown transporter room in TSFS which was also the Regular 1 one transporter room in TWOK. You can see a section of the ceiling looks the same.

The USS Enterprise torpedo bay, here seen in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"➡️, originally was the Klingon battlecruiser bridge in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture". Here, it doubles as MacGyver's entry point into the subterranean lab in the #MacGyver pilot episode ⬅️, filmed a year after "Star Trek III".
