@mgubrud @HistoryBoomer Drop it, it’s not transphobia. They have their rights, they can exist but don’t barging into other people’s spaces and redefining definitions and how we speak. DROP. IT.

Thomas Edsall saying Dems need to get tougher on immigration and crime, and be clear that there are two sexes, and while trans people need their rights protected, that does not include playing on women's teams or being in prison alongside women. This is gonna get some heat! 1/

@RacerMotors_Inc @FLCons When I was a kid, my "or else" involved a 3/8-inch-thick 18-inch-long stick that hurt like hell. It took me a while, but eventually I learned how to behave in public.

It's a grey area for me. The children's behavior isn't malicious but she should pull the reins in some. I can only speak from experience from my era (70s) at that age. My mom would have told me get down and then snatch my arm and say not to embarrass her or else. Every kid in that generation knew what "or else" meant.

You pop into the donut place and you see this from the woman and 2 boys ahead of you. Do you say something or do you mind your business? Now let me ask: Should people START confronting this kind of lack of parenting more often? 🤔

@FLCons I have mixed feelings. When I was a middle teenager, we had a basket and a light in our backyard. I often went out and dribbled and shot baskets until late at night. The neighbors complained to my parents. We compromised by agreeing not to play past 10:30 pm. That was fair.

So I guess this basketball hoop had been on this fence for a very long time. Very clearly the owners of the fence, and the house backing on to that area, had had enough of the sound of basketballs being bounced against their fence, and the sound of under inflated basketballs being bounced at all times of the day. Were they within their right to do this? Or were they being absolute Karens?

@FLCons And no, that didn't make us exemplary parents. It just made us normal parents at the time.

@FLCons Years ago we had young boys who might well have tried something like this. The difference was that we instantly corrected their behavior. After a while, the kids learned that they have boundaries and they learned to respect them.

@HeidiBachram Thunberg shifted seamlessly from being a climate radical to being an all-around Leftist radical. It seemed to happen overnight.

For Greta Thunberg to stand in a German city wearing a top calling for “Intifada” within living memory of the Holocaust is GROTESQUE. To do it with a smile is SICK.

@Palempty @2022BenjiC True. And I seriously doubt that Erling Haaland would be returning to Norway on a Viking ship. We shouldn't try to fact check something done for fun with AI.

@Ralph_Fluchel @2022BenjiC Cliffs. Rocky water extending out from the cliff face, often littered with fallen debris, before the seabed finally drops off...good for a suicidal spot and bad for bathing, sailing and fishing. And the design showed of the ship, is also wrong.

@mgubrud @HistoryBoomer Sure, mentally ill delusional people exist, but that doesn't mean we remake society to affirm those delusions. And if you're a guy and think you're a girl, you are definitely delusional. And vice versa.

@HistoryBoomer This is actually EXTREME transphobia. It starts with a statement of almost Biblical dogmatism. IN THE REAL WORLD there are people who identify as non-binary, asexual or gender fluid. THEY EXIST. TRANS KIDS, who are absolutely certain of who they are and what they want, EXIST. +

@Palempty @2022BenjiC Probably true. And since this Viking ship is only 50-100 yards from the shore, it's reasonable to assume that the water there is pretty shallow. Also, winds near the shoreline are notoriously unpredictable. Hence, the rowing.

The fact this one dude - by himself - can walk into any state and find blatant fraud everywhere he goes proves two things: 1) the fraud is rampant at an unprecedented scale and 2) the government agencies who are supposed to protect our tax dollars are either completely incompetent or complicit in the fraud.
jay plemons@jayplemons

Nick Shirley uncovers an adult day care in Flushing, Queens with 7,000 phantom members. Nick: “This public document says you have 7,899 members.” Employee: “No, we don’t have 7,000 members.” Nick: “So you’re overbilling then? You’re getting paid $1,600 per patient — that’s how you got $12.9 million in 2024.” Employee: “Please leave.” American taxpayer dollars at work.

Here are things that the Platner story has that the Kavanaugh allegations did not have: 1) proof of contact between the accuser and the accused 2) documented allegations from the accuser naming the accused to others *before* the accused rose to the national stage 3) multiple accusers with documented proof of contact and long-standing recognition of abuse Liberals who are saying "this is just like Kavanaugh" are just reminding everyone of how flimsy the Kavanaugh accusations were They are also letting you know that they don't care about evidence. They will accuse their enemies without any documented evidence. They will protect their own even with mountains of evidence.
Sarcastic Cupcake@SarcasticCupcak

Hilarious to see right wingers try to pump up this story that reads like Kavanaugh allegations.

@cass_nguyen_ @mazemoore Anheuser-Busch sold out to European giant InBev after Gussie Busch died. That was the beginning of the end for Budweiser. And it put the kibosh on the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, as well.
