We should’ve moved on from WWII stories to Cold War stories with the USSR as the Big Bad ages ago, it was the next logical place to go, but Hollywood couldn’t bring themselves to do it because it’s run by a bunch of commies who think the Reds were the good guys

I feel like we've reached the end of WW2 movies. All of the interesting stories have been told. Now we get movies about black women sorting mail in England and the meteorologist that did the weather forecast for D-Day.

@DanielJHannan Allow it, but don't kid yourself that it isn't a power flex by anti-Westerners, and act accordingly. But the Westerner ruling class is largely too stupid/treasonous.

Passion plays, dressing up for Purim, praying outside abortion clinics, marking Iftar - all peaceful acts. Either we allow them in public or we don’t. It is painful to watch commentators trying to find reasons why Muslims should be exempted from the rule. washingtonexaminer.com/premium/450439…

My approach to seed oils is quite similar to Pascal's wager. I'm not 100% certain that they will kill you, but I avoid them. If I'm wrong and they're totally fine, I lose nothing. If they end up being the most destructive things we can eat, I won by avoiding them. Because of that, we don't purchase or use them in my house at all, and use alternatives. On the flip side, if I go out to eat occasionally, I'm not bugging the waiter to find out if my food came within 50 feet of a bottle of canola oil. Balance.

BTW, about the Flynn settlement from the DOJ, a lot of people are saying "Aw gee, $1.25 mil? That's all?" They don't understand that this had to happen first, the DOJ had to admit culpability for a wrongful and malicious prosecution that should have never been brought before he can take the next step of suing the individual plotters. Covington & Burling. Brandon Van Grack. Andrew Weissmann. James Comey. Andrew McCabe. Peter Strzok. Lisa Page. Joseph Pientka. Bill Priestap. Sally Yates. Susan Rice. Christopher Steele. Stefan Halper. Glenn Simpson/Peter Fritsch Sir Richard Dearlove. Sir Christopher Andrew Adam Schiff. Or whoever that leaker of the Flynn/Kislyak call transcripts was. [My $'s on Schiff]. [It's a long list, so I'll stop there.] You can't claim "Oh hey man, I was just doing my job in the Obama White House/FBI/DOJ in targeting that dude! You can't touch me! I have government immunity n' shit!" Not when the DOJ literally just publicly CONFESSED you participated in planning and executing a criminal scheme using official LEO/Intel agency powers to target an innocent man and his family. Oh no. No indeed. You don't get to say that shit any more. Now you're naked and you should be very afraid.

I bought a piece of furniture yesterday. Given the amount of work, skill and materials that went into making it some 150+ years ago, what I paid was a steal. It'll need a bit of cosmetic restoration here and there.

@moonmoon818 Interesting that Catherine said "all the dresses," meaning she knew more than Charlotte's were messed up. I'd assumed Megs gave the dressmaker the wrong size deliberately, not that the dm was incompetent.

Reading Betrayal by Tom Bower, i sympathize so much with Catherine, the Princess of Wales. She was just given birth to Louis not 1 month ago and had to deal with a bossy viper-like creature from hell

@drawandstrike Has Trump ever made the FBI record interviews in real time?

I would add: A. Comey was so confident he'd never be held accountable for what he did, he bragged about violating the FBI policy on informing counsel **during a live TV interview**. B. When FBI Special Agents Strzok and Joseph Pientka finally got around to writing their 302's from the Flynn interview, it was Strzok's side dish, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who very helpfully edited the 302 forms, even though she was NOT PRESENT during the interview, and as a matter of FBI policy, the interview was NOT RECORDED, so it's hard to see how she could accurately 'edit' an interview from 3 weeks previously that she was not present for. youtube.com/watch?v=h6mKbD… uncoverdc.com/2020/04/30/mor…

1. The original agent in charge of Flynn's investigation recommended closing it; discredited Stzrok kept it open, and the whole thing was predicated on the dubious Logan Act. 2. Comey is on record admitting he violated FBI policy by not notifying WH counsel before conducting interview he allegedly lied in. 3. Then FBI violated policy by taking three weeks, instead of 3 to 5 days, to file the record of the interview, which was suspiciously edited. 4. Flynn has credibly maintained for a long time he only pled guilty due to the financial pressures of the government's lawsuit -- he sold a house to pay legal bills.

@XOQueenEsther Netflix must have been so sick of her by that point, they didn't advise leaving it out--or they did knowing she'd then have to have it in. You'd think Megs' own publicists would have known how damaging it would be.

Despite Netflix’s brain-dead decision to hand the grifters a glossy platform to whine about their oh-so-terrible privileged lives and peddle their self serving victim narrative, I’m actually fucking glad they left that cringey curtsy scene completely untouched. And damn if it didn’t blow up exactly right. Meghan Markle thought she was owning the room. Showing everyone how “real” she is. Above all that royal protocol. American, Hollywood-bred, rolling her eyes like it was all beneath her. But that one raw clip did more damage than any tabloid ever could. It stripped everything back. No polish, no persona, just Meghan. Small, calculated, bare and ugly. Mocking centuries of tradition and the woman who carried that entire institution with quiet steel for seventy years. She probably thought it made her look refreshing. The outsider laughing at old traditions. It didn’t. It showed entitlement. She wanted the titles, the money, the status, everything. Just not the respect. Not the discipline. Not the understanding. So she turned a simple act of protocol into a joke. On camera. Disrespecting the country and the woman who lived a life defined by duty. A social climber who wanted the castle without bowing to a single rule. Who thought she could rewrite royalty like a Netflix script and still come out the heroine. She did the damage herself, bigger and deeper than any enemy could’ve inflicted. And Netflix just held up the mirror and said, “Smile, bitch, this is you.” She can’t un-curtsy that shit. Ever.

@FistedFoucault The only person who we know was there all 4 years was Dr. Jill. It's hard to believe all the senior staff got along well enough to stay silent and shift personnel around. No one must be offering anyone a good book deal to spill the beans.

The greatest US political scandal of my lifetime (I'm well into my 80s) is that we still do not know who was running the show during the Biden Administration. What makes it incredibly odd is that it seems that no one even cares.

I was on a Teams call yesterday with 5 people, and one was a female Commander (O5) from an Echelon 2 Command (4 Star). She spoke with a very noticeable vocal fry (low-frequency, creaky, or gravelly speech pattern) and it drove me absolutely NUTS that a Naval Officer would adopt that speech pattern. Yes, it's a choice; no you do NOT normally talk like that. Like it or not, if you speak with a vocal fry you're perceived as annoying, unprofessional, and lack authority, competence, or confidence. Those negative qualities are anathema to being a Naval Officer or in a leadership role anywhere. Stop it. Leave it for the 20-year old sorority sisters.

This man has absolute, dripping contempt for the Constitution he is sworn to defend and for the very concept of law itself. Elevating him to the White House, twice, was a tremendously reckless thing for a people who value law and liberty to do.

Client called me looking for a BMW X7 M60. For context, the X7 M60 is essentially a full-size family SUV with a twin-turbo V8 that'll do zero to sixty in 4.1 seconds. It's also pushing $130,000 fully loaded. He was convincing. Had already picked the color and trim. I asked him one question and instantly knew what was going on. Do you have kids? Yes, three. Ages 4, 7, and 9. Walk me through a typical week. School pickups. Soccer practice. Costco run. Saturday date night with his wife. The X7 M60 would've been fine for all of that. But when in that week is he actually using the M60? He's not launching off a highway on-ramp with three kids in the back. He's pulling into a school parking lot at 3pm behind a line of minivans. He was paying a $40,000 premium for a version of a car that his actual life would never let him enjoy. On some level, he already knew that. The M60 was about how he wanted to feel. What he wanted people to think when they saw him pull up. And that's completely human. I'm not judging it. But I am going to tell you the truth about it. Car buying decisions are made emotionally first and justified logically second. You fall in love with the car, then you build the case for why it makes sense. He ended up in a standard X7 xDrive40i. Still a stunning car. Still makes a statement. Saved himself $40,000. He drives it every day and loves it.

Honestly it’s very weird to that no other is manufacturer other than dodge thought to cater to that market. What pisses me off even more is GM never thought to revert the Impala back to RWD and drop an LS/LT in it as a direct competitor. But then again the past 2-3 decades at GM have been a complete fuck up in that department. At least we got the SS🤷🏾‍♂️

I learned yesterday that in the USA egg washing is essentially REQUIRED to sell commercially and they must be refrigerated. (With some exceptions) In the EU however egg washing is essentially FORBIDDEN and eggs are sold commercially off the shelf at room temperature.
