Nowadays, even in arranged marriages, couples are given plenty of time to talk, build attraction, and develop feelings for each other. Most people look forward to their wedding night only asexual individuals seem to have a problem with it. It’s not like getting engaged one day and married the next day,this is not the 1970 when two people knew nothing about each other.

I am seeing tremendous amount of outrage and fervent mobilization against the Transgender Persons Amendment Bill (now Act). Every other activist group including feminists is circulating protest letters, holding public meetings, rallies, webinars. I haven't seen a single such mobilization on a feminist issue in the last 15 years.

I was discussing with my friend, who shows himself as a kattar Hindu, about the Ram Navmi Shobha Yatra that passes through Malavni, where the Muslim population is more than Hindus.
I told him, "Yaar, is baar fir in logon ne Ram Navmi Shobha Yatra mein natak kiya." He said, "Haan bhai." I asked, "MLA is Aslam Sheikh, isliye itna uchalte hain?"
My friend is Shah, but he replied, "Bhai, Aslam uncle is a good human being, he won’t do such a thing."
I was shocked. "Good human being?" I asked, "Bro, Rohingyas and illegal Bangladeshis are there because of him."
He said, "Aslam uncle ghar aate hain hamare, he is a good friend of ours."
I asked whom he voted for. He said, "Aslam uncle." I was shocked, then asked, "Fir kya Hindu-Hindu karta hai aur mulle ko baap bana baitha hai?"
So, 5 years of friendship is now in the block list.

There should be no issue with Madhavi Latha going in there.
My issue is with the stagey-ness of it all. Doesn't seem genuine. What was the camera behind her? How was it all filmed?
Also why chant durgA sUktam so loudly in the presence of those who are from an alien religious tradition. First of all it's a bit rude. Also not a traditional thing to do
(and I am not even venturing to take up the trad talking points about her adhikAra or lack of it to chant the shruti. let's skip that)

I don't really like Madhavi Latha. She's a boorish troublemaker.Her intentions were obviously to draw attention to herself at the airport prayer room.But I think what she did proves useful in bringing up the question "Why is it assumed the prayer room is for only one religion?"

A very close cousin whom i have known to be a life long liberal-secular told me recently that he is getting wary of the rapid islamisation of Kolkata. He said there's no other angle in West Bengal politics except religion and "when it comes down to that being the sole deciding factor, why will i not vote for those who claim to care about my religion?"

@swatiatrest I have two theories 1) may be its geopolitics 2) What I believe the most is kerala and Tamil nadu elections. IT will generate support from churches, thus a significant amount of christian vote may get effected through church influence

Very easy to call Kashmiri Pandits cowards every time we write/speak. Even to the extent of this getting discussed at home and us doubting our collective KP leadership failure, the politicians, the army and what not! I’d like to remind that we lost for so many days after that, each day everyday.. Lost at health, lost at language Lost at hygiene, lost at the privileges of non rented homes.. Lost a collective community friendship.. Lost the love of land.. But we did not lose the day we LEFT - we left with will power to survive and did so rightly..and that is alone, an act of bravery! A story of success. But the banality with which the rest of the nation says you were cowards.. is laughable..
