Shout out to my friend Parag Vedak (Read till the end) Today everyone is talking about #GirgaumPadwa This is a Shobha Yatra organised every year to celebrate Gudi Padwa There are 1000s of people who step out in their best attire to showcase our culture Ladies on motorbikes wearing traditional 9 years sarees are the jewels in the crown This event was conceptualized by Vivekananda Yuva Pratishthan My friend Parag created Vivekanand Yuva Pratishthan. He has been organising this grand show along with the team for so many years now It's now so famous that a lot of localities in Mumbai have a similar Shobha Yatra to celebrate Gudi Padwa His spirit is truly indomitable His kidneys failed and underwent a transplant. Post transplant he had some infection due to which one leg had to be amputated That has not dampened his spirits and he continues to mentor the more active members of the Vivekanand Yuva Pratishthan till date A huge spirit to my dear friend

I feel terribly sorry for failure of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. It was the best thing that happened & I myself witnessed the effectiveness even in far off villages among children, men and women. Everyone knew मोदी जी का स्वच्छ भारत अभियान। It was a delight watching people clean up surroundings, people knocking on the windows of cars who threw trash on roads, people carrying their trash in their pockets until they found a trash bin. It seemed India was improving and then it all fizzled down in a few years.

In some places in the US, gas prices have increased 50%. Even though the US is world's largest producer of oil now. What India is doing in keeping petrol prices stable is phenomenal. People will still find ways to criticize the country. Their own country. It is a mental disease.

Just last night, this was precisely the conversation among friends: why has the Swachh Bharat initiative been neglected or allowed to drift into irrelevance? The broad consensus was sobering. For a society such as ours, sustained civic discipline rarely endures without top-down impetus. It would likely require the Prime Minister to revive the campaign with renewed urgency, and then deliberately devolve it to accountable agencies, public figures, and citizen- and student-led movements to carry it forward with continuity and ownership. Because, quite simply, this country is in urgent need of a serious clean-up - both in practice and in mindset.
