the interesting part about the 2 btc hip-4 markets is not just that one did way more volume than the other it’s that this was market-wide hip-4 flow concentration, not just outcome frontend bias... on hyperliquid, these frontends are pointing into the same shared orderbook / market layer, so when one btc contract pulls the flow, that is telling us where liquidity is choosing to coordinate on the underlying hip-4 market itself, not just on one app skin. hyperliquid explicitly frames the system around unified onchain order books on its base trading stack... that’s why the contrast matters: > the btc daily contract around $79,583 traded about $4.71m > while the nearby $80,354 contract, despite a similar expiry setup, saw basically negligible flow by comparison. to me, that says early hip-4 flow is not yet expressing a rich strike curve... it is clustering around the most focal strike... even when 2 nearby contracts are both tradable, size is not distributing smoothly across the surface. it is concentrating where the strike is more legible, more visible, or more socially coordinated for flow. that is a very different market structure from a mature options surface, where adjacent strikes should all absorb some amount of price discovery... so the next unlock for hip-4 is not just “more btc markets” it is whether frontends + market makers can turn focal-point liquidity into a real distribution surface, where neighboring contracts actually reprice relative to each other instead of one contract doing all the business... that’s when hip-4 starts looking less like isolated event speculation and more like a real onchain volatility / distribution market...
