Given the enormous popularity of this episode, I’d welcome recommendations for other guests that might offer a similar flavor I think the ingredients are: - Lots of topics - Succinct and honest (sometimes biting) takes - nothing to sell Who would you suggest we invite on?
Patrick OShaughnessy@patrick_oshag

My conversation with @AswathDamodaran We cover almost every major topic in markets including - why it’s unexpected inflation we should fear - valuing FANGAM stocks over time - alpha / edge - why ESG is bullsh*t Aswath is a breath of fresh air Enjoy! joincolossus.com/episodes/75305…

A lot of great operators go on to become great investors, but is the reverse true? Are there any examples of a great investor becoming a great operator?

What was that $ATUS quote from Maffei? Something like “they’re either gonna buy us or we’re gonna buy them out of bankruptcy” Not a pretty chart so far…

@LiviamCapital @borrowed_ideas Was lucky enough to be able to watch this commencement address live at Stanford. Maybe it was my age and influenceability at the time (early 20s), but still one of the best speeches I've ever seen. "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish."

A must-watch for any emerging manager. His thoughtfulness around his partnership, business, and investing is a great example to follow. And mature beyond his years. Having been able to spend some time with Dennis, I can say he's as wonderful a person as he is an investor.

Find it helpful to revisit this database of US industry profit margins every so often. Put together by @AswathDamodaran. Pasting top and bottom industries sorted by operating margins. But you can cut and sort as you like. Full table here: pages.stern.nyu.edu/~adamodar/New_…

Great conversation with an investor I have a ton of respect for solidified this: Finding YOUR style may be the single most important determinant of investment success.

@buccocapital could argue $AAPL made this pivot when they opened their first retail store in 2001. Prior to that, was an indirect relationship with the end consumer selling through Office Max, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc.

Really enjoyed this q&a with @joshtarasoff. This answer resonated immensely. Much of investing is finding an approach that suits you/your style/your temperament. There are many pulls to invest a certain way but the best chance at investment success is to stay true to yourself.

@WillPan23822266 @Cultivatewealth I haven't followed closely for a few years but one of my fears was that the value prop of colo and interconnect declines over time. Also hyperscale customers are lower ROI so mix shift isn't great. But don't think there's a big existential threat for them generally speaking.

$EQIX one of those sleepy digital infrastructure businesses that just keeps chugging along (and compounding). Similar to towers $AMT $SBAC $CCI. Kicking myself for selling a few years ago.
