The take from this story? A Philadelphia man has been found guilty in the brutal killing of 27-year-old transgender fashion designer and activist Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells. Prosecutors say 41-year-old Akhenaton Jones stabbed Fells more than 40 times inside a West Philadelphia apartment before dismembering her body with an electric saw. Her remains were later discovered in the Schuylkill River over several days. Investigators recovered the knife, saw, and a blood-covered hazmat suit from the apartment. DNA evidence reportedly linked both Fells and Jones to the crime scene. After fleeing to Los Angeles following the murder, Jones was eventually arrested, extradited back to Pennsylvania, and later convicted of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and possession of an instrument of crime. He now faces a mandatory life sentence without parole.
