@fanoflunch It’s clear that she is sure all that glitters is gold and she's negotiating down the cost of a stairway to Heaven.

Homemade marinara, y’all. It’s so much better (and cheaper) than a jar. I converted five years or so ago and wish I would have done it twenty years before that.

Happy Earth Day! Every year, we celebrate by watching Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth It’s an animated short on AppleTV based on the book of the same name by Oliver Jeffers. The animation is wonderful and it celebrates life and beauty so wonderfully.

Astronaut Victor Glover reflects on Easter and the beauty of Creation from space. “We have this beautiful place that we get to exist together…As we go into Easter Sunday…[I see] this as an opportunity to think about where are, who we are and that we’re all the same thing.”

As I wrote in The Spirit of Our Politics, "When it comes to politics today, Christianity is viewed either as useless or as something to be used." But Christianity is not whatever you want to make it to be.

@MichaelRWear It will be close, but I sense the Colbert fiasco put Talarico over the top. The GOP race, on the other hand, is almost certain to move into a runoff.

A friend in Texas politics has raised to me the prospect that the Democratic primary could be forced into a runoff, and I'm afraid that outcome is the punishment we deserve.

Having a platform without pastoral guidance, local church community, peer sharpening, biblical literacy & theological & soul/character accountability leads individualistic idolatry that panders for personal affirmation, opportunistic selfish ambition and narrative control. James 3:13-18

My hot take is that Xianity doesn't cleanly align with either Repubs or Dems, and that it's bad if it's politically co-opted by either, say, Hegseth or Talarico. This doesn't mean we shouldn't vote. Nor that sides are equal. But please stop co-opting Jesus for political gain.

Moira was my favorite, and it really wasn’t close. But it was her roles in the Christopher Guest films that I love most. RIP Catherine O’Hara youtu.be/QwLZfPPM7GQ?si…

@Bezner @BakerAcademic Congratulations! In my mind, I needed this 12 years ago, but I’ll take it in 2028. God’s timing is perfect, so I’ll accept the term for what it is.

Some personal news: Just signed a contract with @BakerAcademic to write Bonhoeffer for Pastors: Kingdom Vision During Cultural Upheaval. This one will take a minute (couple of years?) to write, but I'm genuinely excited to have the opportunity. Thanks to all involved.

Last night I saw an exchange on here in which a pastor (whom I respect) asked for 3-5 examples of things the government is doing that is worse than protestors interrupting worship. Wanted to take a moment to respond to that for a wider audience for a couple of reasons. (1/16)

The sickness today is of a different diagnosis, but the prescription is the same: Hope, justice, righteousness, and speaking up for love at all times. Saying no to cynicism is imperative.

@MichaelRWear I would be fine with a four-term limit. 24 years seems long enough to maintain institutional knowledge, but not so long to prevent deserving newcomers a chance to serve. I suppose I’d be fine with a 12-term limit for the House, as well, to keep things even.

I've typically been opposed to term limits in the Senate, because I thought it would weaken the institution. The loss of institutional knowledge would be too great! The weakening of Senators in relation to their party too severe! I loved the Senate too much to support term limits. Well, unfortunately, with only a few exceptions, most of the Senators who truly love the Senate have resigned, lost election or died. The Senate has mostly cowered in the face of the executive branch. I don't know that Senators love the Senate anymore. I am at the very least open to revisiting the term limit debate. The potential effects of a term limit on the incentive structure in the Senate seem to me to have changed significantly over the last twenty years.
Mary Peltola@MaryPeltola

My name is Mary Peltola, and I'm running for U.S. Senate to fight for fish, family, and freedom – and that begins with fixing the rigged system in DC that’s shutting down Alaska. We need systemic change if we're going to fill our homes with abundance again.
