Meet Maurice Sholas. He’s a children’s doctor at @OchsnerHealth. He ranted against White people and called them the “mayonnaise caucus.” He also threatened Louisiana legislators that he will “disrupt the system.” Is that a call to violence? In the video below you can see him threaten @ShabbosK and others who set up a "change my mind" type table at USC, by saying that they should remember what happened to the last person who did such things (referencing Charlie Kirk).
Nick is a music doctoral student at @USC/@USCThornton.
He has given some lectures there, however it is unclear if they were paid.
He previously worked as a lecturer for @calstate University.
Before that, he worked as a 2nd grade teacher in Pennsylvania, and at one point said that kids like his students would be open and ready to accept him being in a polyamorous relationship, but the issue was how the parents would react.
He is a Bernie supporter who views anyone who supports ICE as "Nazis," has ironically called for gun control, has a history of anger issues which involved him constantly breaking things out of anger, and is apparently often high on weed.
I'm curious as to how @USC/@USCThornton expect students and faculty to feel safe with someone on campus who wants those with different political views to be killed.
Is such rhetoric acceptable?

Very good read — I would only add that the Daily Wire also suffered in the end from a Ben Shapiro problem.
Any plan to save the company would have had to include him stepping away as the public face of it. That’s just the reality. His brand has become toxic to growth.

The Daily Wire is the case study of why personality-driven media companies can't compound. Peak in late 2023: Shapiro's YouTube alone pulled 170M monthly views. Daily Wire+ subscriptions, a Nashville studio operation, Bentkey kids streaming, an e-commerce arm with razors and chocolates and cigars. The company was running a billion-dollar conservative Disney bet. Then they made the studio bet bigger. Pendragon Cycle, an Arthurian fantasy series of the kind that has bankrupted larger production houses. Bentkey trying to compete with Disney for kids' attention. Daily Wire+ chasing Netflix. Running a newsroom, a film studio, a children's streaming platform, and a private-label consumer goods business simultaneously requires either limitless capital or extraordinary discipline. Some of it worked. Matt Walsh's "Am I Racist?" was the top-grossing documentary of 2024. Most of it didn't. In March 2024, they parted ways with Candace Owens. She walked into the open market and built a show that competes with theirs. Today she has 5.5M YouTube subscribers and added 10.9M followers across platforms since January 2025, generating roughly 805M views in that window. Daily Wire converted its biggest distribution asset into its largest competitor. Early 2025, co-founder Jeremy Boreing stepped down as co-CEO and launched a solo podcast outside the company he co-founded. Bentkey was shuttered the same year. Entire team cut. Then the audience math hit Shapiro himself. 170M monthly YouTube views in late 2023 to roughly 22M in early 2026. An 85% collapse in 18 months. Another 60K subscribers gone in the last 90 days alone. Layoffhedge.com estimates cumulative workforce reduction above 60% over the past year. Tucker Carlson left Fox in 2023, kept his audience, runs his shop with a fraction of the headcount. Megyn Kelly's network drew 138M YouTube views in February alone. The personalities figured out they don't need the platform. The platform discovered the opposite. Daily Wire built a billion-dollar valuation on names that can walk, take the audience with them, and run a competing show from a laptop the next morning. 170M views to 22M. The company kept the overhead. The audience left with the people.

Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach.
The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

You can easily draw an 8-0 congressional map in Missouri where every district voted for Trump by at least 12 points. Republicans don't have to just settle for dismantling the Kansas City district. They can destroy the St. Louis one as well. With Callais no longer ensuring that Democrats get free Congressional seats based on race, there's no reason to keep this district intact any longer. All 8 of these districts have swung right since 2012, so there's very little risk of this turning into a dummymander.
