It works the same in Lagos, Tokyo, or anywhere else. If it didn’t, engineering, technology, and science would collapse instantly. God, on the other hand, is a matter of faith. Different cultures believe in different gods, and those beliefs often come from upbringing, not universal proof. So no, it’s not the same. One is demonstrable and repeatable. The other is belief-based.

There's an entire literature on how many of history's great creators and entrepreneurs hated school and dropped out as soon as they possibly could. The pattern repeats constantly. Creative genius plus traditional schooling equals misery and early exit. The system is completely misaligned with creative and entrepreneurial personalities. The qualities that make someone innovative, the restlessness and curiosity and refusal to accept arbitrary authority, those exact qualities make school unbearable. We're filtering out the people we need most.

@LisaBritton Men don’t want to be teachers, particularly at lower grade levels, for much the same reason why they are dropping out of society more generally: because of how feminized and bureaucratized the environment is. It’s like walking into a lion’s den, it’s an anti-male environment.

I believe more male teachers could help fix so many problems… We need more male teachers! How can we do this?
