As I celebrate my birthday today, I have decided that for the rest of year, every day I share a song that I like. Music has helped in my lowest moments. Hope it helps others too!

I saw a post on Reddit that said that “The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.” And I don’t think I’ve ever seen AI described so incisively.

Police DO NOT prevent crime; they respond to it. Crime is prevented by higher wages, guaranteed health care, food security, high-quality child care, housing, good schools, and addiction treatment.

In Finland, charging fees for tuition is illegal, which means rich kids have to mix with normal kids. That means rich families had to make sure the schools their children attended were good, which in turn prompted the wealthy to invest in public education. Finland, take a bow.

The explosive diarrhea-causing cyclosporiasis outbreak has now spread to 31 states, with nearly 7,000 potential cases. Last year, RFK ordered the CDC's Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network to stop tracking cyclosporiasis.

I said this about AI well over a year ago. Using it to diagnose and fire people with medical conditions so they lose their insurance AND their income is somehow even more heartless and evil than I’d predicted.

Meta used AI to target workers with medical conditions for layoffs, according to a new lawsuit. Twenty-six former Meta employees are suing, accusing the company of using AI that disproportionately targeted people with disabilities or workers who took medical leave in selecting people for mass layoffs. reuters.com/world/meta-use…

You don't find it weird that not a single billionaire wants to end world poverty? Doesn't it strike you as bizarre that no one with that kind of wealth wants to be the hero who actually solves the world's biggest problems when they literally could? lsn't that suspicious?

Last year some regrettable cost cutting decisions were made about foodborne pathogen testing, ending 28 years of screening for cyclosporiasis and quickly catching and quenching several outbreaks. Now we still have no idea what the source of this outbreak is. This is the price!!!

CDC cuts back foodborne illness surveillance program The CDC's FoodNet program has reduced required surveillance from eight foodborne pathogens to two, a move some experts warn could leave the country more vulnerable to outbreaks. cidrap.umn.edu/foodborne-dise…

Ok hear me out: instead of all of us having to become extremely knowledgeable on a new infectious disease every 3-6 months, what if we got a large group of experts together and just put them in charge of giving us easy to understand health recommendations. They could also do things like track outbreaks and predict future concerns.
