@OInvests They don’t. Automation can and should be an opportunity to totally rethink work as both an occupation and as a source of the goods and services society needs, but instead we just keep finding new dumb ways to waste people’s time while killing the planet to produce nothing useful.

When shopping, if I see a young person working there looking miserable I'll remember their name then write to the store and give them a completely manufactured glowing review. I remember what it was like doing jobs like that and it makes me feel good all evening.

This is exactly it. Show even the most backwards, authoritarian monarch from the 1800s some our modern tech, and they’d be dismayed that instead of a post-scarcity utopia, we’ve built ourselves a world where the vast majority of people live hand to mouth in crippling poverty.

@mitulkanji I think if you showed the technology we have now for automating manual labor to people from a couple of hundred years ago, they would assume we're living in a work-free utopia. And if those in charge wanted to, they could make that happen.

While attacking the locals, one of the victims managed to grab his attacker's weapon, and shot him to death before being martyred, to the sound of settlers cheering and yelling "ARAB DOWN" and "REVENGE". One of the settlers then continued to execute three more Palestinians in cold blood, while soldiers were standing and watching from the side.

Beyond the fact that they occupy two key government ministries, their mentality is fully representative of the Israeli government and Israeli society writ large.
