English

@Alexandr4Denman Angry ‘Easter Eggs don’t have Easter on them any more’ post.
I’m sure it never bothered you 40 years ago 🙄

English

@OldeWorldOrder So Japan celebrating another culture is fine. Ireland doing it is sad. Gotcha
English

@prolificinvent @Blank_Planck @lady_valor_07 I made a decision, in five seconds, to not watch that video.
English

@RantsMono @Blank_Planck @lady_valor_07 If you want to know you'll have to invest a few minutes into watching said video. It's likely worth your time
English

@prolificinvent @Blank_Planck @lady_valor_07 You named a rule that has the same name as the one about picking food off the floor. Where's the explanation. Advance apologies if I'm being stupid
English

@RantsMono @Blank_Planck @lady_valor_07 I literally posted it, and my response was sarcastic in nature 😆
English

@prolificinvent @Blank_Planck @lady_valor_07 And yet neither of you took the seven seconds to tell the rest of us

@toddboese @DrInsensitive @kangminlee What are the walls and doors made of? Are they bulletproof. What if the shooter is inside the classroom to begin with. Why are all the solutions ways to deal with a shooting AS it happens instead of preventing them.
English

@DrInsensitive @kangminlee Bulletproof glass and hardened dead bolt system on all classroom doors. Probably a few hundred dollars. 🤷🏼♂️
English

The male solution: A gun.
The female solution: A $600K shelter paid for by someone else.
To hide in until she is rescued by a man with a gun.
One of these attitudes built the miracle of Western civilization. The other one didn't.
David J Harris Jr@DavidJHarrisJr
🚨WOW: West Elementary School in Alabama has become the first in the United States to install ballistic pods in classrooms. The $60,000 rapid-deployment room sits in the corner of each classroom and can expand in just 10 seconds to create a bullet-resistant shelter for students and staff. It’s designed to protect against active shooters as well as severe weather events like tornadoes. Is this needed in every school?
English

@EmJHarris2 @DrInsensitive He does. Because anything he doesn't like is a female idea, and anything he does is a manly idea. Because he's so manly you see.
English

@DrInsensitive You think that female teacher made the decision to install these security pods?

@TheBoysOOCC Sloane from GenV anyone?
English

If you could choose any character from #TheBoys to have their own spin-off series, Who would you choose?

English

@TheCriticalDri1 @JiltedValkyrie @BaronDestructo I knew someone would ask him! And what's more I knew he'd reply cos he's such a sound bloke
English

@JiltedValkyrie @BaronDestructo Would you have any light to shed? This is an intriguing question.

I've been thinking lately about old TV shows and VFX.
It just dawned on me that almost all 90s shows are 4:3 even with a remaster. Despite having a few seasons on Sci-Fi Channel in 4:3, Stargate SG-1's DVD releases were all in 16:9. This meant the VFX did EVERY single episode in the 16:9 format from the VERY BEGINNING.
Unlike other shows... Babylon 5, Star Trek: TNG etc, Xena, and practically any other show I can think of before HDTV took off, they all did 4:3. I wonder if this has a lot to do with SG-1 starting on Showtime. And despite having seasons 5-7 in 4:3 (I think 8-10 were available in HD iirc), we always got the incredible 16:9 love.
I wonder whose decision it was to keep doing that? It seems like it would add more work and take longer to render, but the show has really stood the test of time visually thanks to it, I feel.

@SteveSkojec Hang on, Walkmans were long defunct by the time of digital cameras.

Since when did Millennials have Walkmans and land lines?

@9mmballpoint Irish person here. Could be wrong but I think the first time I ever heard it was as a child. The eenie meenie minie mo rhyme. But I remember changing the rhyme as a kid cos we knew it was a bad word.
English

@AydinPaladin Bit how else are the English supposed to know we're ripping on them?
English

@JonklerThe80746 @AydinPaladin Tell that to the Irish or any people who were forced to speak English as their own language was actively stamped out.
English

@AydinPaladin New argument unlocked: If you speak english, consume english media, and you enjoy anglo cultural activities, you have no right to criticize the english
English

@yeahyeahokthen @IndubitablyTho @BaronDestructo I could listen to her all day. Always delighted when she shows up in anything. Especially ME2
English

@IndubitablyTho @BaronDestructo That so funny because I think she has an awesome voice and only tried to watch the show when I saw she was part of the cast.

@LeftHandDagger @SamaHoole You eat nothing but potatoes and then try to survive when the potatoes are inedible.
English

@SamaHoole There is no logic in this post at all.
Potatoes are healthier than flesh foods. Root vegetables are also superior to flesh foods when it comes to food security.
English

The Irish ate potatoes not because potatoes are optimal nutrition, but because you can grow enough potatoes on a small plot to keep a family alive when the English own all the good land and you're forbidden from hunting.
When the potato blight hit in 1845: 1 million dead, 1 million emigrated.
"But potatoes are a whole food!"
They're a survival food that kept people barely alive. The fact that an entire population depending on a single crop died en masse when that crop failed should tell you something about dietary resilience.
Modern nutritionists: "The traditional Irish diet was quite healthy."
The Irish who survived: "We ate potatoes because we had no other choice and many of us died."
English

@SamaHoole I remember being told by a history teacher that the average amount of potatoes and adult ate was somewhere around 70. Imagine trying to eat that many. Morning noon and night. Nothing but potatoes and maybe some milk and salt if you're lucky
English

@BlanchardPhD Because people don't wanna bang six legged, four armed, multiple eyed, horizontal robots.
English

I honestly don’t understand the point of making robots in the form of human beings. Why two legs and not four or six? Why two arms? Why are the eyes only in the front instead of covering 360 degrees? Why the vertical orientation that requires more balance? Is this simply to make humans feel a certain way about them?
