The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered in 1947, contain Old Testament manuscripts over 1,000 years older than previously known copies. When compared to later copies, the text was nearly identical. God preserved it through the centuries, just like He said He would (Isaiah 40:8).

Several Biblical truths that are very unpopular: · Abortion is murder · Suffering is expected · Homosexuality is a sin · Following rules can't save you · Jesus is the only way to Heaven · Marriage = one man, one woman · Hell is real, eternal, and deserved

If it is bad to be motivated by clicks and views (so goes the accusation) to expose evil, how much worse is it to be motivated by clicks and views (and money) to lie in God's name, scam innocent saints, teach doctrines of demons, and defend sexual predators?

"One nation under God". That God is Jesus, just so we are clear. Not Allah. Not Buddha. Not Shiva. Jesus Christ the king of kings. Say amen if you agree with this statement!

@HermamS59354 @celestiumart There is more good than bad within those "bible alone" denominations. We live in a world where sin persists, and that's not exclusive to protestant churches. People should know exactly what they're placing their faith in, and I'm glad I live in a world where that is the case.

@RapKnight1 @celestiumart Them being bigger doesn't really matter. It doesn't make them true, or else they are true now purely due to size. Also there are reasons just anyone couldn't read it and it was for preists and ordained people, and we see that in what is now 47,000 "bible alone" denominations.

I believe he translated the Old and new testament to german in the early 1500s. The way I understand it, it was more about breaking down the Latin monopoly that the roman catholic church established by keeping scripture exclusive to educated clergy. Once it was translated to a common language like german it incentivised people to read, interpret, and debate scripture for themselves. And since it was translated into a common, non-gatekept language, it could be further translated into other vernaculars across the world.

@RapKnight1 Common people in the west? I didn't know he had a translation prior to the first English one. So he made a translation for those who spoke German . It would be nice to have dates and times because depending on the era and area you're talking about, this doesn't hold.

Also, it's not really accurate to say that the Patriarch of Rome was part of the orthodox church because they called it the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I'm also fairly sure the folks who wanted to call it the catholic church called it catholic and the folks who wanted to call it the orthodox church called it orthodox.

Old English was developed in the 5th century, the KJV was originally published in 1611. Most people in the first thousand years spoke Greek or Latin. So what about them? Just because Catholicism wasn't as persecuted doesn't mean that Orthodoxy isn't true or the original. The patriarch of Rome was part of the Orthodox church at some point prior to the schism. Orthodoxy in the middle east were being constantly attacked by Islamists/Muslims so it was difficult for expansion to happen with the constant persecution. Oral tradition was the way most people were able to learn of the scriptures even when they couldn't read so this point doesn't compute. People still learned and practiced the faith even when they didnt have personal access to the scriptures.

It's good that he gave Luther his flowers. Not spinning away from Catholicism doesn't really make sense because of how he and his group believed(and I agree) that a lot of catholic dogma contradicted the teachings from Bible. He's free to have his own opinion on it, but again, he himself isn't that well-versed in Christian ethics, history, or theology, so I will not be giving much weight, if any, to his comments on it. This is something I feel Asmon himself would probably agree with.

I mean, they might as well have been. After the schism, the roman catholic church was significantly more prominent than y'all orthodox folks by like 70% or 80% to 20% or 30%. Around the time Martin Luther translated the Bible, it was more 75 to 25. Martin Luther's translation is the reason why the common man is able to read the Bible. I'm sure y'all have your own history of how the orthodox bible got translated(if it is.), but that was really only a factor for a small part of Christianity; the exception doesn't really define the rule here. Christians who weren't some kind of elite or noble, for the most part, would not have been able to read the Bible if not for Martin Luther.
