🦜🇻🇪 Acting President Delcy Rodríguez announces an increase in the Comprehensive Minimum Income to $240. The previous amount was $190, consisting of $40 from the Food Voucher and $150 from the Voucher Against the Economic War. Pensioners’ income, meanwhile, rises from $60 to $70. “This is the most significant increase in recent years. We hadn’t had an increase that allowed us to reach this level,” Rodríguez noted during a rally in Caracas marking the conclusion of the so-called “Pilgrimage for a Venezuela Without Sanctions and in Peace.” It is unknown whether the increase plan includes a rise in the base minimum wage, which affects social benefits, vacation pay, and profit-sharing, and which has stood at Bs.130 ($0.26 at the official rate) since 2022. The president also highlighted that today the government, unions, and the business sector signed an “important agreement” regarding the respect and implementation of these adjustments. “Both Bolivarian unions and opposition unions, together with the employer sector, have signed the consensus on the minimum respect for this Comprehensive Minimum Income. The private sector is also urged to implement it,” she noted. Further details regarding this increase are expected to be released in the coming hours. In particular, it must be clarified whether it affects the base minimum wage, whether it is solely an increase in bonuses, or whether it will be applied under a hybrid scheme.

Donkey meat for locals. That is the IMF model. Venezuela was free of the IMF for years. Now the door is open again. The same institution that helped strangle Argentina, Ghana, and dozens of others. The people have the right to take to the streets. Maduro was right about that. The question is whether they will.

As a Russia supporter, I’m exhausted by Putin’s incompetence in Ukraine. We can’t keep pretending this isn’t a massive failure. Half the country is on fire, and Ukrainian terrorist threats have reduced Victory Day to a pathetic spectacle. It’s humiliating that a pathetic little cokehead gets to tell the Russian Empire what it can and cannot do. How much longer are we going to delude ourselves that Putin knows what he’s doing or that diplomacy will save us? If Ukraine had a nuclear weapon, it would have been dropped on Russia four years ago - yet Putin can’t even take Donbass because of his “surgical operation.” If he can’t finish this conflict and secure victory, then maybe it’s time to pack his shit and go home, or step aside and let someone more competent finish the job. Russia is my culture, my language, my heart. I will always be pro-Russia, but it’s getting harder and harder to be pro-Putin these days. Sorry, not sorry…

@gvtcontractor Question: are rural poor folk, indigenous or laborers better off in any way since Chavez? Anecdotally the relatively well off Venezuelans that I know seem absolutely clueless to the lives of the vast majority who weren't in their class (not white).

A lot of my bros have been running into Venezuela since it opened up. I myself have a visa pending to go visit. That said, things don’t change overnight. This week a friend of mine was visiting her hometown (she lives in USA now) and the local gangs found out she was in town. At 1 am, 16 men pulled up to her house, broke in, pulled her out of bed and took her to an undisclosed location trying to extort money out of her. Guns to her head, threatening to rape her. They held her though the night and released her the next morning unharmed when she finally convinced them she had no money. Fuck. That.
